NINJA NEW YORK
"Ninja New York, 25 Hudson St., is different from any other restaurant you have been to because not only are you served by specially trained ninjas, but you never know when a ninja is going to "attack" you while you're inside the establishment. Ninjas can arrive at anytime, whipping their swords around and simulating "attacks." Ninja waiters must attend a special "ninja" school for one month prior to working at Ninja New York in to be considered an authentic ninja. The inside of the restaurant has been set up to depict a real ninja's castle, and the restaurant's goal is to impress their customers."

DID THE DISCOVERY OF COOKING MAKE US HUMAN?

"Cooking is something we all take for granted but a new theory suggests that if we had not learned to cook food, not only would we still look like chimps but, like them, we would also be compelled to spend most of the day chewing. Without cooking, an average person would have to eat around five kilos of raw food to get enough calories to survive. The daily mountain of fruit and vegetables would mean a six-hour chewing marathon. It is already accepted that the introduction of meat into our ancestors' diet caused their brains to grow and their intelligence to increase. Meat - a more concentrated form of energy - not only meant bigger brains for our ancestors, but also an end to the need to devote nearly all their time to foraging to maintain energy levels. As a consequence, more time was available for social structure to develop."

"Vitra Haus, the new home of Vitra's Home Collection, has been covered widely by design media, and not in vain. It is a beautiful example of Jacques Herzog's and Pierre de Meuron's ability to take the ubiquitous stacked-houses concept and still make it look new, interesting and inviting. Reaching five storeys in height and containing 12 separate houses, Vitra House is geared toward the general public, design-aware consumers who will appreciate the building as well as the Vitra products inside. The entire contraption appears both grandiose and intimate at the same time, with the gray exterior disguising the disheveled heap within the site, while the open glass-walled ends and stark, white interiors facilitate the presentation of residential-scale displays."
