Midnight cakes...

It is midnight and I just got finished making pancakes.

Yes...you heard me right...pancakes lol.

[This is my "exhausted, just got done making pancakes, updating my blog, why am I still awake, I should really be asleep - face. (I'm pretty sure I looked like this a majority of the day lol)]

I was talking to my good friend Kim earlier today and she was telling me about a delicious pancake recipe she found on TasteSpotting. Kim was nice enough to e-mail me the recipe and give me some helpful tips along with it! Kim added blueberries to her pancakes and used whole wheat flour instead of all purpose flour - and recommended using medium heat instead of medium-high because she burned her first pancake immediatley!

I just tried one of these pancakes and they are absolutley delicious! They have such a unique flavor and we decided that it was the almond extract that really made these pancakes special. So thanks Kim for the recipe :)

Moving on...

I finally updated ALL of the tabs at the top of my page (all but music) so now when you click on "kitchen gadgets" or "random" or "food clips" - the most recent posts featured items will be there!

I like having these organized tabs because it is very helpful, such as: when I'm having a conversation with someone about my blog and I say "oh I blogged about this restaurant about a month ago that i think you would really really like! Let's check it out" - then I can go to my blog, click on the restaurant link, scroll down till I see the restaurant title - click - and it takes me straight to the post! I know this sort of technology isn't new, and people have tabs like this on all websites...duh...but I put so much information on here every single day, I like to have all of my past and current thoughts organized.

I hope you guys benefit from the tabs at the top of the page as well - and I hope that if and when you do want to share something you read on my blog with someone else, you will use the tabs to quickly find the information I have provided, rather than clicking back through all of my posts until you find the information you're looking for.

GETTING PAID TO LOSE WEIGHT? MORE WORKERS ARE TRYING IT

"Need a financial incentive to lose weight? How does $100, $200, or even $500 sound?

Many employers are using "dieting for dollars" programs to encourage workers to slim down. Employees who lose weight are offered rewards, such as gift certificates or reduced health insurance premiums, additional vacation time or—everyone's favorite—cold hard cash.

It's like your own personal version of The Biggest Loser: the more weight you lose, the more money you win. As many as one-third of American companies offer financial incentives, or plan to introduce them, to coax their employees to lose weight, according to the Center for Health Incentives at the University of Pennsylvania.

Some employers refund the cost of Weight Watchers classes; others reward workers for simply completing a health evaluation or enrolling in a class."

INFLATABLE BUILDINGS THAT COULD EARN $10 MILLION A YEAR

"In New York, the most glaring signs of the Great Recession are the stalled construction sites littering the city--boarded up, dusty, and desolate eyesores.

The architecture mega-firm Woods Bagot may have a solution, which they've just unveiled: Temporary, inflatable buildings that let the developers make money while they wait for their finances to shape up. "We tried to re-imagine how you could reuse those sites," Jeff Holmes, the partner in charge of Woods Bagot's New York office, told FastCompany.com. "But it had to be a real proposal. There's been a number of creative solutions in New York and Boston because of the number of stalled states. We took a hard-nosed look at creating something viable."

Stalled sites pose a problem for developers whose financing has dried up in the recession because even when sites lay unused, they wrack up huge tax burdens--as much as $2 million a year. And sites can easily go fallow for 2 to 5 years.

Currently, Holmes and his team are shopping the idea around to developers, having already opened up a number of "informal" conversations. Given the economic predictions of a soft recovery, and the ongoing, moribund state of real-estate financing, you might see these coming soon."
