Just a little bit of advice....

Good evening everyone!

It is a beautiful night here in Ohio.
I am currently blogging, enjoying the weather, and swinging on the swing set in my backyard.

Just a little bit of life advice from my curly head to you....

eat dessert. every. single. day.

Do not go a single day without dessert.

A day without sweet treats - is no day at all.

Trying to lose weight/maintain weight? You should still eat dessert.

Dessert is soooo much better for the soul than obsessively counting calories/fat.

What do I constitute as dessert? Ice Cream. Cookies. Cake. Cheese Cake. Chocolate. Candy. Pie. Basically anything sinfully delicious.

So here is my advice to you - eat dessert every single day, in moderation, because a life without dessert is no life at all.

Pictures by: Me :)

Speaking of dessert - my birthday is in just about a month....

..September 12th to be exact :) Every year I have pecan pie for dessert on opposed to a cake. I'm not sure when this tradition began - but I love having an unconventional and delicious dessert on my very special day!

BUT....ever since I went to sprinkles bakery on my very first trip to L.A. (First time I went to sprinkles & the last time I went to sprinkles)- I can't even fathom consuming any other dessert but the amazing red velvet cupcakes whipped up at sprinkles every day!!! (I'm eating this particular cupcake in the picture of me at the tippy top of my blog!)

I NEED to have these cupcakes in my possession on my birthday. Not want. NEED.
Problem is - 'Sprinkles' is in California - and I am located in Ohio.
Sprinkles does not send cupcakes across country - although they do have mix in a can.....but it's just not the same!!!! Please someone - anyone - do me a solid and get me these cupcakes.

When it comes to the mop atop my head....

No I'm not going to dye it blond (laps in judgement).
Yes I am going to cut a majority of it off.
I was bold and made a hair appointment to chop off my fro this up and coming Tuesday!
(Mary: If you're reading this - be expecting me at 5 p.m.!! We have a lot of figuring out to do!)

Hopefully I don't chicken out, and I actually do something different with my mop for a change...but there is still a piece of me that is afraid I'm going to hate having short hair (and by short I mean anything 3 inches above my shoulder).
(It will at least be this short)
My hair hasn't been above my shoulders since I was 7 years old - I've always had long curls.
In case you didn't know - this is serious business people!!!! (at least in my world it is lol).
I'll keep you posted for sure.

A few weeks ago I said I was going to start exercising....
....but.... I never got around to actually doing it lol. I feel more tired and sluggish than ever, so I have to do something about this whole "being out of shape" thing asap.
Like I've previously stated - I'm not going to be working out to lose weight. My goal is to get into shape, and feel more energetic. I'm only 19 years old - I shouldn't be feeling like I'm 40+

I have been a part of PREMIER LADIES FITNESS since I was 12 years old, and I haven't really used my membership to it's full potential. A few years ago I was a lean mean exercising machine - I was ripped for sure - and I felt great! For about 6 months straight I took work out class 4 out of 7 days of the week, and I loved them! The classes were sooo much fun! I can't believe I stopped going :(
But, in my defense - I've been very busy with culinary school for the past couple of years (excuses excuses) so I haven't gotten around to getting back in the groove of things. But that is all going to change starting today!

I have all of the work out classes I'm going to take mapped out:
Sunday
12:30-1:30 p.m. Zumba Hip Hop

Monday
7-9 p.m. Zumba Hip Hop

Tuesday & Thursday
6- 6:30 p.m.Turbo Step & Kick
6:30-7 Thigh, Butt & Gut
7-8 Zumba Hip Hop

Wednesday
7-8 p.m. Zumba Hip Hop

All together I'm going to be doing 6 hours of work out classes a week! Not only will I take exercise classes - but I'll also be weightlifting before/ after my classes as well!

I'd much rather take classes than exercise on my own because it keeps me motivated. Whenever I work out alone - I get lazy, and slow, and I tend to have absolutely no results.
But - when I'm in a room full of women, and I just so happen to be the youngest, I force myself to go harder, never stop moving, and never let any of the older women show me up ;) (that last part might be difficult seeing as I'm so out of shape).

I'm sure i'll be feeling good in no time!

While going through my daily "blog check" today I came across a lot of pictures that I find interesting, cool, beautiful, and wonderful in one way or another:

Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

ST. VINCENT – THESE DAYS

If you know me….you know I love her. She is 100 kinds of awesome.

“I had a lover

I don't think I'll risk another these days

These days...

These days I seem to be afraid

To live the life that I have made in song

It's just that I've been losing so long."

“GLASS OF LARD” IS A NEW FOOD METRIC IN THE UK

"A British study examined the fat and calories in takeout food, and has introduced an bizarre but rather provocative measurement for fat intake: the wine glass full of fat. The study, conducted by the weight loss product company Lipobind, found that the average Chinese takeout meal (or "takeaway" in British parlance) contains precisely "one wine glass worth of fat" (the equivalent of 132.5 grams). And of course the UK media flipped out, generating headline after headline. Some newspapers went with the much sexier "wine glass of lard" headline.

They even produced the above graphic comparing other foods with the same standard of measurement. So a Chicken Tikka? That's a half wine glass of fat. A Doner kebab? That's 1.05 wine glasses of fat. And in the same article we find out that the British couldn't give a rat's arse about it. Reports Metro UK, "Only one in 12 people polled said they had concerns about the fat content of their takeaway." Jamie Oliver's obesity-battling puppets couldn't get here soon enough."

UNWRAPPED: MACARONI AND CHEESE BOXES

Although I think this man is....quite odd lol. He is correct when he says that Mac&cheese is usually the first thing people learn to cook. When I was about 7 or 8 macaroni was in fact the very first thing that I learned to cook!

  2. I'm in California but an hour away from Sprinkles. Since I have a daughter who as passionate about the things she holds dear, I would do anything for her.....so I would be willing to make you some from scratch..but my only concern is the portability of the frosting. Email me if you are interested.
