Lost for words..

Hello everyone.
This is my "Why am I still awake blogging, when I should really be going to sleep" face.

Oh goodness, where to start where to start...

I haven't posted anything since last Wednesday because I had no idea what to talk about (prior to my featured stuff that is). I opted not to post anything until I had something to say. I have been so scatter brained/tired lately, and to be quite honest - I still don't know what to talk about. Kind of hard to believe hu? I'm usually quite chatty. I'm just not feeling it these days.
So let's just skip all of the bells and whistles for just this once and just focus at the featured sections at hand....

While going through my daily "blog check" today I came across a lot of pictures that I find interesting, cool, beautiful, and wonderful in one way or another:

Let us begin...

“Every little earthquake

Every little heartbreak

Going unheard

Every little landslide

Catch it in my hand

I won’t say a word”

(1) BOTTLED TEA COMES UP SHORT IN ANTIOXIDANT TESTS

"Tea companies like to brag about the antioxidants in their bottled tea beverages.

Some even put the amount of antioxidants on the label. But if you think that you’re getting a big dose of these natural chemicals from your favorite bottled brew, think again.Reseachers tested bottled teas for antioxidants called polyphenols and found that most brands contain very little of them.

“Out of 49 samples, half of the bottle teas contain less then 10 milligrams of polyphenols,” says Shiming Li, a natural products chemist at WellGen, a company that's working to develop foods for medical use.

A cup of home-brewed green or black tea has 50-150 milligrams of polyphenols. So you'd have to drink between 5 and 20 of those pint-size bottles of tea to get the same amount of antioxidants. That’s a lot of tea.

(2) CALORIE COUNTS ARE COMING TO MENU

“Are you ready for the truth about how many calories are lurking in your favorite fast food or chain restaurant meal? The Food and Drug Administration unveiled some ideas Tuesday on how it plans to implement requirements under the new federal law overhauling health care forbetter nutritional labeling on the menus of restaurant chains with 20 or more locations.”

“First, though, you may have noticed calorie counts popping up pn some menu boards already. The requirement for posting calories went into effect March 23rd. And over the weekend we noticed our local Panera was already in compliance. We opted for a Power Breakfast Sandwich (360 calories) over an Apple Crunch Muffin (450 calories) as a result.”

“The regs will apply only to standard menu items, food that's displayed ready for eating and, believe it or not, self-service food, such as salad bars. How we'll ever figure out the true count for calories we're piling onto our plate seems beyond our rudimentary math skills.”

“Beyond the prominent calorie counts, the law also requires that other nutritional information, such as the amounts of saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium, be available in written form, if people ask for it.”

“The FDA has until next March to come up with binding regulations. For now the agency isn't enforcing even those provisions on calories that already took effect. The first tickets probably won't be written until sometime next year, after some unspecified phase-in period.”
