Hellooooo everyone!
Long time no see!
How has your weekend been so far?
Mines been fantastic - thank you!

Let's just skip the long apologies for my not blogging in almost a week (err...sorry lol) and get started -shal we?
Since I haven't been able to make time to blog as much i'd like.....
I'm trying my best to pack as much information that I possibly can into one single post.
Soooooo today- for the first time ever - I will be featuring two restaurants instead of one!
Crazy right?
I'm usually a real stickler when it comes to how I put my posts together- but I seem to be letting my hair down and just doing whatever I feel like with my posts these days.
You're welcome for the spontaneity :)
I woke up at 6 a.m. this morning and did some MAJOR stress baking....
Baking always seems to chill me out when I'm stressed.
(Not to mention it's super fun)
Why the stress you ask?
Work. School. Life.
It's hard being a 20 year old girl these days lol.
I did all of this between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 a.m :

I baked macadamia nut cookies.
(You can find the recipe at the bottom of this very post!!)

I'm sure you're thinking "wow....Jenna is a lean mean baking machine today!"
Why yes.... yes i am.
Glad you noticed ;)
Did somebody say Pancakes???????
I DID!
It's pancake Saturday!
Woooooo!

What's pancake Saturday you ask?
It's only the best day of the week!
Every Saturday is pancake Saturday in my house (well...every Saturday that i don't work)
Pancake Saturday makes me oh so happy.
Work (cake decorating at Kroger) has been pretty hectic lately....
tis the season I suppose.
Due to the fact that it's been so busy - I keep forgetting to take pictures of all of the cool cakes I've decorated! Here are just a handful of the ones I've thrown together this week....and actually remembered to photograph lol :

Hello Kitty cake.

Engagement cake.

Tinkerbell cupcake cake.

Little Mermaid cake.

XBox controller cupcake cake.

Disney princess cake.
I came across an interesting/curltastic news article a few days ago....
and i thought it would be a perfect topic of conversation for this very post!

My favorite quotes/excerpts from the article:
"Some wavy-locked ladies obsess about the look and reliability of straight hair."
"Google "curly hair" and find message boards, blogs and products set to offer a sort of support system for untamable, frizzy, disorganized bad hair days. There are, of course, similar guides for women with straight hair, but the first page of Google results for "straight hair" are almost all on how to achieve it."
"But although we might not have always tried to achieve stick-straight hair, many curly-haired women have been fighting the good fight for generations."
" 'I find that curly haired people are obsessed about what they put on their hair," says Rodney Cutler, owner of Cutler/ Redken salons in New York and Miami, saying that curly-haired people are "more inclined to give their two cents in their experience in the haircut.'"
::and my fav::
"There's the curly-haired crowd who just want to embrace the hair they have and then there's the crowd who are not sure what to do with it, so they want to reinvent it."
My thoughts? :
First thought:
SAY WHHAAAAAAAAAT?!?!?! There is a curly headed article in the paper!? A whole article dedicated to my fellow curlies?!? No waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! I have to blog about this ASAP.
Second thought:
I have seen first hand that there are 2 types of curly heads. First type is the kind that love their hair - second type is the one that hates it. I myself am CLEARLY apart of the first crowd of curlies. But I'm not going to lie, I haven't always felt this way. I've had a love hate relationship with the mop atop my head since I was in elementary school. For a majority of my younger years - I did nothing but put my hair in pony tails and buns....not very flattering for a young girl with large facial features lol. Luckily - I grew up - got over it - and now embrace it. I wish everyone else would just do the same!!
Third thought:
Rodney Cutler was most def correct when he said that curly haired people obsess about what they put in their hair - at least I do. Some products work - and some don't. For those products that do - I use them religiously.
What do I put in my hair every day?
Two things and two things only:

I am super super picky when it comes to serums aimed at taming frizzy hair. Most of the serums I've tried weigh my curls down and/or make my hair look and feel super oily.
Smooth Down is A LOT better than any other product I've tried.
It's my absolute fav. Well worth the $20 i spend on it every other month.

I used to absolutely HATE mousse/foam and would only use gel/cream based curl booster products.
That was until my hair stylist Mary got me hip to "Curly Sexy Hair: Curl Power Spray Foam"
This product keeps my hair full and curly all day long without the icky/crunchy feeling that happens with other mousses. Well worth the $15 I spend on this product every month.
I reccommend both of these products to those of you who have no idea how to tame/manage your curls!
(If you do give them a go - let me know what you think!!)
I usually eat very healthy - but I can make an exception for Penn Station......
every once in a while :) I don't think I've ever blogged about Penn Station (I'll get on that asap) which is really strange because it's one of my favorite east coast sandwich spots!!
Right now they're advertising an 8 inch philly cheesesteaks for $2.99!! (Offer ends 11/14/10)
Check a location near you: IL, IN, KY, MI, MO, NC, OH, PA, SC, TN, VA, and WV)

PS Makes the most delicious Lemonade EVER.
So naturally - I had to order a cup....

What did I chow down on?

A 6" Chicken Teriyaki with mushrooms, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickels, mustard, oregano, salt, pepper, oil and vinegar. And a medium order of fries (hey - go big or go home).

Nomnomnomnom.
Making my mouth water!!

My sandwich was UH-MAY-ZING. Perfectly balanced sandwich.
There was an element of sweet, spicy, sour, and salty. Like I said - perfectly balanced sandwich.

Usually I would feel guilty about eating/ordering fries. But PS has such delicious (hand cut/made fresh every day) fries, that I couldn't resist! I dipped them in ketchup and doused them in malt vinegar.

This picture makes me "LOL". I look like a monster during feeding time - holding my sandwich with my giant hands and shoveling it into my giant mouth lol. What an attractive picture.
My eyes are saying "What are you looking at?! Don't all ladies eat like this?" lol.

(1) THE CAMELLIA GRILL – NEW ORLEANS
"For a real feast for all the senses away from the French Quarter take the St. Charles street car line to Camellia Grill. While there is no one signature dish, the Chef Special omelet is a real house specialty: bacon, ham, onion, Swiss and American cheeses and French fries all held together with lighter than air eggs whipped in a blender. You will find an eclectic mix of locals, tourists, and students from nearby Tulane University, just blocks away."

(1) ON THE WEB FOOD FINDS CENTER STAGE

“Chalk it up to beauty, shock or hunger pangs, there are few things that spread online as quickly as pictures of food.
From a friend's Facebook photo of a perfectly torched creme brulée, to a shot of a classic Detroit coney dog to the Luther -- a cheeseburger between two Krispy Kreme donuts -- images of culinary creations circle the Web faster than you can reach for an antacid. "Food speaks to us," says Dave Benjamin, 40, of Troy, a contributor to The Hungry Dudes -- a local food blog that specializes in sharing photos of metro Detroit cuisine.
"When you think of apple pie, you might think back to when your grandmother made apple pie. And then it's not just the food, it's the experiences that surround that food."

(2) STATES CONSIDER BANNING ALCOHOLIC ENERGY DRINKS

“Alcoholic energy drinks are facing growing public scrutiny. Several states want to ban canned, caffeinated alcoholic beverages.
In Washington state, nine college freshmen landed in the hospital recently with near-lethal blood alcohol levels after drinking a caffeinated malt beverage called Four Loko, according to law enforcement officials. Police reports describe chaos at the October incident, where officers found female freshmen unable to talk or sit up, lying on mattresses in a basement near Central Washington University, about two hours east of Seattle.
Police shuttled loads of intoxicated freshmen back to campus and took the worst cases to the hospital. One student almost died, according to the police reports. At first, investigators thought the students had been drugged, but it turns out they were drinking Four Loko. Now, Washington's Attorney General Rob McKenna wants state lawmakers to ban these types of drinks.
"The wide availability of alcoholic energy drinks means that a single mistake can be deadly. If you're a 135-pound woman [and] you drink two of these Four Lokos ... you can reach the level of toxicity for alcohol poisoning," McKenna says.

(3) HAPPY MEAL BAN OFFICIALLY PASSES IN SAN FRANCISCO

"With a thump of his gavel moments ago, Board President David Chiu noted "This ordinance is finally passed." What's more, it passed 8-3 -- a veto-proof majority against a promised rebuke from Mayor Gavin Newsom.
The legislation in question was an ordinance that will ban restaurants from handing out toys with their meals unless said meals meet strict nutritional requirements. While the ordinance's sponsor, Supervisor Eric Mar, described it as a "small step" toward combating the nation's childhood obesity problems, it could also be a large step toward triggering a lawsuit from McDonald's or other fast food behemoths.
This was actually the second vote on the ordinance; it originally passed last week (all San Francisco ordinances must survive two votes; had Supervisor Bevan Dufty changed his mind, the veto-proof majority would have been ruined).
Late last week, McDonald's spokeswoman Danya Proud refused to rule out potential litigation during a phone interview with SF Weekly. "Certainly, we're evaluating our options," she says. "Parents are telling us this is their right and responsibility, not the government's. What's next?"
Perhaps that's a question best left for the Board of Supervisors."

(4) SPAM TO THE RESCUE: PASSENGERS STUCK ON STRICKEN LINER FOR TWO DAYS SENT AIRDROP OF CANNED MEAT

"The cruise ship which was adrift in the Pacific after being hit by an engine fire was on the move today as Mexican tugboats began towing it towards California.
Nearly 4,500 passengers, including 16 Britons, and crew on board the Carnival Splendor, low on food and without air conditioning or hot water, are having to eat canned crab meat and Spam dropped in by helicopters.
And the air drops, and limited menu, will continue for another two days until their expected arrival in San Diego on Friday.
What began as a seven-day cruise to the picturesque Mexican Riviera turned into a nightmare on Monday when an engine room fire cut power to the 952ft vessel and set it adrift 55 miles off the Pacific coast.
No-one was hurt and by yesterday, U.S. Navy helicopters were ferrying 70,000lb of supplies, including the crab meat, croissants, Pop Tarts, Spam and other items to the stricken ship.
The tugboats were originally set to take the Splendor to the Mexican coastal city of Ensenada but the cruise line changed its plans and were attempting to have it towed to San Diego, where hotel and flight arrangements would await the passengers."

(3) GRIFFINS STEAKHOUSE EXTRAORDINAIRE – STOCKHOLM

"
Unexpected details make Griffins Steakhouse Extraordinaire more interesting than your typical American steakhouse. That, plus the fact that it is located in Stockholm, in the brand new Waterfront Building in the downtown area between the City Hall and the Central Train Station.
