Oh - that's just my teeth chattering because it's so darn cold!!!
Hellooooooo everyone!!
How are you doing on this fine December day?
I'm doing fantastic thanks!!
As you can see - it's mighty snowy here in Ohio.
And it's FREEZING. Geezie lapetes - I wish it would just warm up a bit.
But that's a stretch seeing as it's only the 2nd week of December and it's only going to get colder from here lol :/ A girl can dream can't she??
I know in my last post I ranted and raved about how beautiful the snow is....
::Sunset view from my bedroom window::
::Sunrise view from my kitchen table::
...and how I'm so lucky to live in a place where there is a blanket of snow on the ground on Christmas and blah blah blah. Which is true! Don't get me wrong - I'm so grateful to be surrounded by such a beautiful season. BUTTTTTTT....
I have a message for those of you who do not live in a place where there is an abundance of snow (or absolutely no snow at all) : it's not all that it's cracked up to be. Trust me.
In my last post I failed to mention the downside to winter in Ohio:
-Being completely terrified while driving due to frequent skidding across black ice.
- Feeling like your fingers are going to fall off because they're so numb from the cold
- Having to wake up early just so you have an extra 15 minutes to warm your car up before you leave.
- Having to stand in the freezing cold for 10 minutes straight while scrapping the ice off your windshield and windows.
- Sweeping a foot of snow off your car with a broom.
- Being late to work because your car wouldn't go up the icy hill.
-Pumping gas...enough said lol.
- Having to be towed out of snow banks when your car is stuck.
- Constantly having wet socks.
-Not being able to leave your house because the city forgot to plow your street.
- Not being able to leave your house because there is 2 feet of snow on the ground.
-Constantly having chapped lips.
And my favorite : Walking across a parking lot/side walk/street and slipping on a patch of virtually invisible ice, which then causes you to slip, fall, and bust your ass on the ground while simultaneously emptying out the entire contents of your purse all over the place. Then as you're laying on the ground looking up at the sky- you're wondering if anyone else saw you fall, and whether or not you broke your tail bone (I may or may not know this one from recent/frequent personal experience lol)
Looking out the window thinking
"Boy am I glad I have this hot tea and my big, fuzzy, 60s style robe to keep me warm."
Truuuuue that sister.
Holiday cupcake cakes I made at work....
This one is my favorite :)
I feel like it is very very important that each and every one of you watches this video....
of a little girl named Jessica who is absolutely STOKED ON LIFE!!!!!
Every single one of us needs to wake up in the morning, stand on the counter of our bathroom, point at ourselves in the mirror, and remind ourselves how GREAT we really, and that we can do ANYTHING.
It is amazing how such a little person can be so inspiring. Jessica certainly made my day.
I hope she makes yours too :)
I like how she says that she likes her hair and her hair cut :)
I too like her curly locks and hair cut. But I suppose I'm a little biased.
Ginger has one final request....
"LISTEN UP PEOPLE - If you haven't already taken the time to fill out Jennas survey..."
"Will you papapapaweeeeeeze do it now????" (How can you say no to that little face???)
Would you please fill out a QUICK 10 question survey on my behalf? I'd really like to have a little bit of feedback from my readers - and seeing asNONE of you comment (shame shame shame on you) for whatever reason, I've decided to make a survey for you to quickly fill out! Just click on the link below. I promise it will only take a few minutes - I'd really really really appreciate it!!!!!
Like I said - this is the final time I'm going to ask!
I will be analyzing the results sometime this weekend, and I will share the outcome with you!
So far this survey has been very very helpful. So to those of you who have already taken the survey -thank you so very very very much!! I really do appreciate it.
Want to know what my new favorite breakfast consists of......?
Sure you do!!! :)
I go through a little thing I like to call "breakfast trends".
What is a breakfast trend you ask? Well - it's when I go long periods of time eating one particular thing for breakfast, and nothing else. I don't know why I do this - it's not a planned thing. It just happens. Then out of the blue I will start eating something else every day for a while - and then the cycle continues
What is my current breakfast trend/favorite breakfast combo you ask?
Whole wheat toast topped with: peanut butter, honey, chopped assorted nuts, and two fried egg whites. Accompanied by a veggie pattie, skim milk, and coffee!
What kind of Wednesday morning would it be without the seek and find puzzle? No morning at all - that's what!!
I sometimes forget how large my ears, hands, and nose really are - until I see pictures like this lol.
I have my dads manly features and I love it!
(I'm not kidding lol I really do love it)
I went to my favorite restaurant yesterday with my friend Linsey....
and I took a a handful of pictures I thought I would share with all of you! :) What is the aforementioned restaurant you ask? Why it's Taqueria Mixteca!!
Delicious Mexican food makes this little curly head a very happy camper.
The chips and salsa are ALWAYS delicious. Even though this particular visit - they had different chips!! I was freaking out lol. The chips never change, but for some reason, yesterday they had tiny thick chips instead of huge thin ones. I should've asked why....
Who might that hand belong to???
My gorgeous friend Linsey! :)
I ordered: One chicken taco, one small chicken quesadilla, rice, and refried beans - then topped the whole thing off with different levels of hot sauce! Gotta keep life spicy ;)
Mmmmm looks and tastes so good! If you ever visit Dayton Ohio, or if you just so happen to live here - give Taqueria Mixteca a little visit. You won't regret it!
Stuffing my face like always.
It's what all the lady's are doing nowadays, didn't you hear? Lol
I will miss this culinary jackpot of a restaurant ever so much when I move to Florida :(
I am currently infatuated with one of the simplest beverage mixtures there is....
Coffee and hot cocoa!!
I call this new found concoction of mine "Coffeecocoa."
(The name is groundbreaking hu? lol)
Would you like to see just how this beverage is prepared?
No? Well....
I'm going to show you anyway!
Just scroll down to the bottom of this post to collect the the most simple recipe I've ever posted!
Let's be honest...
Im a 20 year old girl who has absolutely no idea what she's doing lol. This is equal parts exciting, mysterious, terrifying, and unsettling :/But I suppose that's what being young is all about...being scared shitless, but throwing caution to the wind, and doing whatever the hell you want anyway.
"Cautionless Jenna" is what they'll call me lol.
Well it is time I bid you fairwell....
Perhaps I should spend some time outside today so I can get a little sunlight on this face of mine - I'm looking a little pale......
On second thought - I don't mind being pale at all - I'd rather be inside my warm house drinking my coffeecocoa.
I hope you all have a wonderful day! :)
Let us begin...

(1) ELLIE GOULDING - THE END
This song is the epitome of everything....Not much else to say.
(2) ST VINCENT – THESE DAYS
Sigh…what can I say about St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark) that I already haven't said? I love everything about her.
Annie is absolutely gorgeous, she has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard, her music is amazing, and she has the greatest head of curls I've ever seen. What else could you possibly want?
(3) BON IVER - FOR EMMA FOREVER AGO
I love Bon Iver. I love the clapping. I love the snapping. I love how folky the song sounds. I love the spontaneity of playing in the street in Paris for passerbys.
This is why I love music.
For all your lies - You're still very lovable...

(1) ALCOHOL AND COFFEE COMBINED MAY BE DANGEROUS
"The United States Food and Drug Administration has recently sent warning letters to four manufacturers of caffeinated alcoholic beverages, warning them that their products might be unsafe. Ever had a splash of alcohol in your coffee at Christmas? Or a dash of coffee in your alcohol to help the mince pies go down better? Apparently this could be dangerous if done to excess because caffeine reduces the symptoms of intoxication, keeping you more alert and so you may not think you are drunk when in fact you are. This could lead to you drinking more than is safe for you.
The FDA warned the companies that they may seize the products. The products in question are:
1. Charge Beverages Corp.: Core High Gravity HG, Core High Gravity HG Orange, and Lemon Lime Core Spiked. 2. New Century Brewing Co., LLC: Moonshot. 3. Phusion Projects, LLC (doing business as Drink Four Brewing Co.): Four Loko. 4. United Brands Company Inc.: Joose and Max.
The FDA decided to send warning letters to the companies after they had reviewed medical studies on the use of caffeine combined with alcohol and its effects and after they had performed a laboratory analysis of the drinks."
“Parents who have eliminated foods from their children's diets based on allergy tests alone may find that some are safe to eat after all.
The National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases issued the first clinical guidelines for diagnosing and treating food allergies Monday, saying that blood or skin tests aren't sufficient when making a diagnosis.
An allergy should be suspected if someone has a reaction within minutes or hours of eating a food, according to the guidelines. Physicians should then take a detailed medical history, conduct a physical exam and confirm the allergy with a skin-prick test, in which tiny drops of the suspected allergen are pricked into the skin, usually in the forearm, to see if red wheals form. None of those steps is definitive by itself, the recommendations say, which will likely to lead to fewer diagnoses.
For a correct diagnosis, "it takes a combination, and in some cases an oral food challenge," in which patients are exposed to tiny amounts of the suspect food under close medical supervision, says Hugh A. Sampson, director of the Jaffe Food Allergy Institute at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and one of the authors.”

Food Curated is one of my favorite people that I’ve never met. Her videos are equally inspiring and amazing. Watching these videos reminds me of the love I have for food, and makes me believe that I chose the right career field/life path.
If you’ve never been to foodcurated.com I suggest you give it a look see! You won’t be disappointed. It’s an amazing website that is doing a wonderful job of “spreading the word” about local food in NYC.

(2) SCRATCH bread
This is probably one of my favorite food related videos I’ve ever featured on my blog. It’s been a while since I’ve shown it, and I feel like it’s necessary for me to show it again…..
(3) THERE IS A LOT OF STRENGTH IN A LOAF OF BREAD: SCRATCHbread’s MISSION FOR DELICIOUS CAMPAIGN
One of the main reasons why I love the food industry so much is because there are people like Matthew out there who are seriously trying to make a difference in the way we view, eat, enjoy, and understand food – this is what EVERYONE should be striving to do…..

(1) JAMIE OLIVER FAMILY MAN: PANCAKES
Omg Jamie has such adorable children!!
I love their little accents J
I want my children to speak with lovely british accents too.
What could be more simple than 3 measly ingredients?
(Well...probably 2 measly ingredients lol.)
Even though this is an extremely simple combination - I'm still going to provide pictures, because who doesn't love pictures? Lol.
::Ingredients::
- Coffee
(Any kind of coffee you'd like! Just as long as it isn't flavored)
- 1/2 a packet of hot chocolate mix
- Marshmallows
::Directions::
-Brew 2-3 cups of coffee (you can brew more if you'd like, but you only need 2-3 for this recipe!)
- Empty out half of the packet of hot cocoa mix into a regular size mug (one that holds just about 2-3 cups) and save the rest of the packet for next time!
- Pour the freshly brewed coffee into the mug, and stop at about an inch or two under the rim
- Stir the coffee and cocoa mix thoroughly - making sure to scrape the bottom of the mug so there is no hot cocoa residue left over.
