Bamboozle here we come...

Hello everyone!
I've been a busy girl today - it is almost midnight and I'm just now getting to my blog post!
This post will be sloppy/short but I have to go to sleep soon so I can: wake up at 4:30 a.m. and be out the door by 6. We (me & my friend kim) have a 13 hour drive to the Let’s Get It show in Rhode Island tomorrow night. Then It's off to Bamboozle on Saturday !!
So I gotta make this quick....

Where to start....

I woke up early this morning to bake my favorite delicious treats!
Mini sugar donut muffins!
I added dark chocolate and raisins to a couple of them - which I've never done before.
I think they turned out pretty good!

After baking my treats - I got my ears lowered/my curls updated at Expressions (the salon I go to).
Mary (my hair stylist extraordinaire) has been my go to gal for as long as I can remember - she always does such a wonderful job with my curls! Not only is she handy with a pair of scissors but she is so much fun to talk to! If you live in the Dayton area and are looking for a new salon/hair stylist- then you should def. give expressions a call and ask for Mary!! Tell her I sent you :)

Like I stated in yesterday's post : Due to the fact that I'm going to be without my computer til Monday - I will be unable to update my blog posts. But you better believe I will post by Tuesday with a full report of my trip!!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone
Go out and do something fun :)

REFUGE DES FONDUS

"Bottle service. As rumor has it, this favorite tourist attraction in the Montmartre neighborhood first began offering patrons wine in baby bottles as a way to avoid the French tax on wine served in proper glasses. While sucking down the grape juice, winos can fill their bellies with toothsome cheese or beef fondues."

(1) NEXT GARBAGE MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB: SEATTLE TAKES ON FAST FOOD IN JULY

"Seattle is getting ready to become the first city in the country to eliminate fast-food packaging from the landfill. Starting July 1, most of the wrappers, cups and packaging that comes with a restaurant meal will have to be recyclable or compostable. Seattle Public Utilities analysts predict this will keep a minimum 6,000 tons of waste out of the landfill each year --about the same amount as a garbage train 100 cars long.

Safeco Field is getting a head start on the new rules. This season staff worked with vendors to replace the food packaging at the ballpark with recyclable and compostable alternatives, and staff removed most of the garbage cans, replacing them with bins for compostables.

There are still some items that go in the garbage, such as Pepsi cups, potato chip and kettle corn wrappers and tartar sauce containers, but the program has been a success."

(2) HAPPY MEAL TOYS COULD BE BANNED IN SANTA CLARA COUNTY (CA)

"The latest target in the battle over fast food is something you shouldn't even put in your mouth. Convinced that Happy Meals and other food promotions aimed at children could make kids fat as well as happy, county officials in Silicon Valley are poised to outlaw the little toys that often come with high-calorie offerings.

The proposed ban is the latest in a growing string of efforts to change the types of foods aimed at youngsters and the way they are cooked and sold. Across the nation, cities, states and school boards have taken aim at excessive sugar, salt and certain types of fats.

Believed to be the first of its kind in the nation, the proposal would forbid the inclusion of a toy in any restaurant meal that has more than 485 calories, more than 600 mg of salt or high amounts of sugar or fat. In the case of McDonald's, the limits would include all of the chain's Happy Meals — even those that include apple sticks instead of French fries.

Supporters say the ban would encourage restaurants to offer more-nutritious foods to kids and would make unhealthful items less appealing. But opponents believe it amounts to government meddling in parental decisions."

DESIGNER KITCHEN BY GRAFT

"Loft Hamburg, located in a restored building in Winterhude district of Hamburg, is a private 118 square-meter residence designed by Graft. The focal point of the high-ceilinged and otherwise white space is a large pod paneled with walnut. The pod contains the residence’s kitchen and bathroom, hides its central heating, cooling and plumbing, and even provides some cupboards and bookshelves. The owner was looking to use a wide variety of materials, and the walnut pod contrasts beautifully with the soft fabrics, leather and natural stone used elsewhere in the loft."

This little piggy went to the market...

I had a very...interesting morning to say the least.

Heres how it went:
I woke up. went to dunkin donuts. drove to school. went on a field trip to a meat farm with my butchery class. witnessed screaming pigs being slaughtered, decapitated, gutted, limbs chopped off, hairs burned off, hung on hooks, then cut up into pieces. went back to school. did homework. bought a banana and yogurt. started this very blog post.

All before 9 a.m.
......yea.....
Interesting doesn't even cover the first three hours of my day.

The only thing I'm going to say about my trip to the farm is:
I didn't enjoy seeing pigs being slaughtered...but.. I believe it is very important to know where our food comes from, what exactly it is we're eating, and how our food is prepared.
The trip was very educational - and I believe everyone who eats meat should visit a farm like the one I went to at least once. We should never be in the dark about how our food gets from farm to table.

Educate yourself.

(1)PREGNANT TEENS LEARN HEALTHY COOKING

“Teens are often known for eating junk food and sweets, which may give them short boosts of energy, but does not give them the nutrition they need.

When those teens are pregnant, nursing or feeding young children, it is even more important for them to eat balanced meals and be healthy role models for their kids, say teachers at Crossroads High School, a small school for pregnant teens and young mothers.

The tots attend preschool on the campus, while their moms take regular high school courses in adjacent classrooms.

Teachers at Crossroads are working with wellness advocate Cindy Gershen to help students understand the importance of healthy lifestyles so they can pass on good habits to their children. Gershen founded the Wellness City Challenge, a nonprofit working to bring healthier foods to schools.

Teachers contacted Gershen, who owns the Sunrise Bistro in Walnut Creek, because they wanted a caterer for their health and wellness fair next month who would provide nutritious foods they have been teaching the girls about, said teacher Kathy Dadasovich. Gershen agreed on one condition: that she be allowed to come to the school in March for an "eat and learn" lesson to teach the girls about the foods she would provide at the wellness fair.”

(2) WHITE HOUSE ADVISER SPILLS SECRET: OBAMA LOVES PIE

"Presidents have had their indulgences — Ronald Reagan loved jellybeans and Bill Clinton binged at McDonald's. What's President Barack Obama's weak spot? Pie.

Obama's senior adviser, David Axelrod, told Jay Leno Friday that the president was forced to "separate" from the White House pastry chef to break his bad eating habits. "One of the things that happened when he came to the White House is they have a very great pastry chef. It became a big problem," Axelrod confided on "The Tonight Show." The president, he said, "has a weakness for pie."

ADS & BRAND EXPERIENCES THAT DEMAND CONSUMER ATTENTION
"The game of marketing has changed fundamentally. Taking out uninspiring, run-of-the-mill print and TV ads doesn’t fly any more. Marketing a brand effectively requires exceptional ideas and concepts that are entertaining and unusual enough to capture the imaginations of today’s cynical, ad-wary consumers. Our advice is to go beyond the traditional media to capture your audience in other platforms as well – offline brand experiences that DEMAND consumer attention.
Brave, new, exciting, entertaining offline experiences are talked about, blogged about and spread through social media. This is viral marketing at its best and most effective. If the idea is good, nothing can stop its spread. We spend all of our waking hours evaluating and creating such ideas. We see more innovation and ideas and concepts each day than we ever thought possible and the ideas we’ve created have achieved incredible attention. We have access to a global roster of creative talent of all disciplines whom we can tap for our projects. Our new ACCESS AGENCY website will launch in June. In the meanwhile, if you want us to help your brand to create such experiences, please get in touch. "
