Thanksgiving Extravaganza!

Helloooooooooo everyone!!!

How are you doing today/this week/ this month/ this year??? I'm doing fantastic! There is something about this time of year that just puts me in an amazing mood! Nothing can shake me I tell you, NOTHING!!

I had an amazing Thanksgiving week (celebrated/ate all week long!) and am enjoying this holiday season filled with cheerful music, classic movies, and a whole bunch of crazy people who stand in impossible lines just to buy gifts for loved ones (or themselves lol).

This particular post isn't your typical post:
There isn't a featured section today, just a whole bunch of turkey, a whole bunch of food, and a whole bunch of me! So sit back, relax, and lets take a trip (through photographs) down my Thanksgiving packed week:

For those of you who do not live in the United States, or those of you who do not know what Thanksgiving is all about:

Wikipedia describes it as:

Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival celebrated primarily in theUnited States and Canada. Traditionally, it has been a time to give thanks for a bountiful harvest. While there was an underlying religious element in the original celebration, Thanksgiving today is primarily identified as a secular holiday.[1]

Though earlier feasts are known to have taken place "Thanksgiving" as it is known and celebrated today derives from a joint celebration between the Pilgrim settlers of Plymouth, Massachusetts and members of the Native American Patuxet tribe of the Wampanoag people in 1621.

In Canada, Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the second Monday in October, which is Columbus Day in the United States. In the United States, it falls on the fourth Thursday of November.

Long story short:

we eat A LOT of food (each family has their own spin on thanksgiving style food, but most of the spread is the same), we spend time with friends and family, and we give thanks for the lives (and the food lol) we have.

Thanksgiving at my friend Williams house the weekend before Thanksgiving.....

This is Ellen.
She is Williams mother, and the woman behind this Thanksgiving madness.
Ellen is one of the most interesting, intelligent, amusing, caring, and special people I've ever met in my entire life. I think everyone should know Ellen, or at least have an equivalent to her in their life.

Several food themed comics (just for fun!)....

Thanksgiving day at my Aunt Linda and Uncle Rays house...

was delicious, and fun, and just down right Thanksgivingtastic!

The bird.

Look at that giant mound of turkey!!!! MMMMM.
I think I just might heat up some of our leftover turkey and eat it while I finish this post lol.

I won I won I won I won!

It’s extremely easy to forget what it is in life that we’re grateful for.....

not only the big things, but the little things as well. Over the span of the last couple of weeks I have been busy mentally cataloging all of the things that I am grateful for.

You might find yourself thinking, “hu, I never thought of that. I’m thankful for that too!” or “Wow, Jenna is a nut bag – she’s thankful for her big hands and feet!?!?” Whatever your reaction may be, I believe you should sit down and think of everything you yourself are thankful for. Perhaps you’re just thankful that you haven’t lost your mind yet this holiday season….wait….I should add that to my list…….

What I’m thankful/grateful for this year:

My sense of humor- it makes life a lot more amusing.

My job - The fact that I actually have a job is a lot more than a majority of people can say in this economy

My giant hands – which are great for high fives J

My college/culinary education that my parents paid for- I had/have hardly any means of paying for myself to go to college – so without them I wouldn’t be the food enthusiast I am today.

Dark Chocolate, the comics section of the newspaper, breakfast and coffee – my mornings wouldn’t be the same without them.

That my parents will never kick me out of their house - they would probably let my sister and I live in their house forever if we wanted to.

Puppies – I’m very thankful for puppies.

I am beyond grateful for the fact that I have access to hearty and healthy food every single day – I have never gone hungry unwillingly a day in my life.

For radio stations that play nothing but Christmas music from the end of November all the way through December – I listen to NOTHING but Christmas music during this time of year; it makes me so happy.

I am extremely thankful to have a healthy body – I can see, I can hear, I can breath without complications, I have all of my limbs, I have a sense of touch, I’m not diseased, I do not have cancer, I am mobile, I am of an average weight, and I am capable of taking care of myself without the help of others.

Parents who willingly go outside when it’s below freezing, in their pajamas, just to warm my car up before I leave for work – I can’t tell you how amazing this is lol

Thankful that I have a good car, that’s in great condition – even if it does cost me a lot to fill up the gas tank.

My huge feet – I like to think they keep me more balanced and grounded than the average person.

That my dog is still alive - despite her medical issues.

I’m thankful that I grew up in a society where, as a woman and a human being, I’m allowed to have an opinion.

That my parents paid for me to have braces when I was 10 years old – without those trusty braces, my smile would be beyond hideous today.

That my best friend of 12 years, is still my best friend, and still puts up with me - I have no idea why Jessica hasn't kicked me to the curb yet, but I am extremely grateful lol.

And last but not least....

I AM THANKFUL FOR ALL OF YOU!!!

If you are reading this right now. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. If you are a frequent visitor to my blog, thank you xs 1000000. Each and every one of you are amazing.

I started my blog with the notion that my family and friends would be the only ones reading/caring about the information I have to give, and the things I have to say. Boy was I wrong. I have way more readers than I ever imagined, and the number continues to grow each day.

I'm just a 20 year old curly headed girl who loves food, and loves sharing it with the world - and I am grateful that you (whoever you are) take time out of your day to give a damn about what I have to say.

You are amazing. I hope I can continue to amuse/entertain/inform all of you for as long as I am running this little thing I like to call "Chronicles of a Curly Head"

Without you guys the Chronicles would be non existent!
