Busybusyfloridabee...

Helloooooooo everyone!
Jenna here - reporting from my new home in Florida!
So sorry I haven't posted anything since Thursday! I've been so darn busy.I have so much to share with you guys already and I've only been here for two days!
Unfortunately I am currently having trouble uploading my personal photos onto this particular post, so I'm going to have to hold off on sharing my new experiences with you guys until next time!!

So today we're going to kick it "old CCH style" and just let the food speak for itself....who wants to listen to me ramble on and on anyway??
We'll just have to save the rambling for next time ;)

Let us begin.....

[[Today's music]]

(1) DAMIEN RICE – DELICATE

When I was 13 years old, Damien Rice introduced me to music- and actually taught me how to feel. I can say with confidence that he is the sole reason why I have such a great and immense passion for music.

As the years have gone by I've discovered several types of music I would consider more "my taste" - but i'll always hold a special place for Damien in my heart. I absolutely love/adore this man.

(2) THAO WITH THE GET DOWN STAY DOWN – BODY

(3) BILLY JOEL – SHE’S ALWAYS A WOMAN

I LOVE this song.....probably because it was written about me.

No really....it was…..you don't believe me????

Just ask Billy - he’ll tell you.

[[Today’s restaurant]]

Two years ago when I visited my cousin Katie (whom I now live with) in Orlando, we went to Universal Studios and had lunch at todays featured restaurant. It was an experience to say the least. This restaurant is the most beautiful/creative/stunning restaurant I've ever been in. Now that I live in Orlando I am seriously considering applying for a job at this outstanding restaurant. If they aren't hiring I will INSIST on an unpaid internship. The food here was/is amazing - I would absolutely love to better my culinary skills in this sort of atmosphere (paid or not).

If you ever find yourself in Orlando - or at Universal - I highly recommend you make eating at this restaurant one of your top priorities.

MYTHOS – ORLANDO FORIDA

“As you approach the towering rock formations, cascading waterfalls and ancient figures carved into the side of Mythos Restaurant® you know you're in for a dining experience unlike any other. This award-winning restaurant offers exceptional contemporary cuisine in a setting to spark the imagination. “

“Lying offshore a craggy grotto on The Lost Continent®, the cavernous interior of the restaurant looks as if it’s been carved from the rock by the very gods whose images are etched into the walls. In addition to the dining room there is also outdoor seating offering a spectacular view of the park’s inland sea and vistas of the park’s colorful islands.

The food itself far exceeds the fare normally enjoyed by mere mortals... let alone theme park visitors. Enjoy such dishes as blueberry and pistachio crusted grilled pork, cedar planked Bay of Fundy salmon, gourmet hamburgers and imported pasta. Mouth-watering desserts and a full wine list are available. There is also a separate children’s menu. “

[[Today's blog findings]]

While going through my daily "blog check" (which is where I peruse through the many blogs I follow) today I came across a lot of pictures that I find interesting, funny, cool, beautiful, and/or wonderful in one way or another:

(3) ORANSI FRIDGE AIR PURIFIER - KEEPS YOUR FRIDGE SMELLING FRESH

"The Oransi Ionic Fridge air purifier cleans the air in your refrigerator so it smells amazing by emitting ozone. We've been using it in our fridge here in the Kitchen Contraptions test kitchen over the holidays and into the new year and love it. There is a fresh difference and we think the difference is even a little better than our baking soda in a box we typically use. It's also very compact and can be put anywhere in the fridge to keep it fresh.

  • Patented Piezo-electric ionizer (ozone safe - 0.011 ppm, that’s more than 78% below the FDA limit)
  • Micro CPU controls the operation of the air purifier to cycle between on/off mode
  • LED display indicates mode of operation
  • Noise Level: Silent

We never thought there would be an ozone unit that would work in our fridge, and now we're happy to share it with you. Thanks to Oransi for sending this over for us to review."

[[Today's news]]

(1) ON THE VERGE OF A GLOBAL FOOD CRISIS

"A week after the UN’s Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) warned of a possible “food price shock” if prices continued to rise, the USDA downwardly revised its outlook for global harvests of key crops, sending future prices surging and fueling concerns over a repeat of the 2008 food crisis which sparked riots in over 30 countries. With riots already occurring in Algeria and Mozambique, the impending crisis even sparked a reaction by World Bank Chief Robert Zoellick, who sought to calm the already uneasy markets.

The global food situation doesn’t look too promising, as floods in Australia and excessively hot weather in Latin America harm harvests, upward pressure is mounting on prices. According to the FAO, a basket tracking the wholesale cost of food commodities such as wheat, corn, rice, vegetable oils, and meats, has already topped 2008’s peak values, reaching 214.5 points (compared to 213.5 on June 2008). And, as the USDA cuts its global grain supply outlook, soybean, corn, and wheat prices have spiked, nearing or passing 30-month highs.

The situation prompted a response by Zoellick, who a few months ago rallied the markets with talk of the gold standard. On this occasion, he told the Financial Times that “with food accounting for a large and volatile share of tight family budgets in the poorest countries, rising prices are re-emerging as a threat to global growth and social stability.” Zoellick went on to enumerate measures to make markets more efficient, such as establishing small regional humanitarian reserves in disaster-prone, infrastructure-poor areas and improving long-range weather forecasting and monitoring."

(3) TOO MUCH LEAD PROMPTS RECALL OF 'TOXIC WASTE NUCLEAR SLUDGE' CANDY BARS

"Turns out the marketer of some candy bars sold under the Toxic Waste brand wasn't joking.

The Food and Drug Administration says Candy Dynamics of Indianapolis is recalling all flavors of its Toxic Waste Nuclear Sludge Chew Bars after way too much lead turned up in some cherry-flavored bars in California.

The company, citing "an abundance of caution," is pulling all flavors of the bars ever produced. Those would be the sour apple, blue raspberry and cherry chew bars. All of them are imported from Pakistan.

The problem was discovered by the Californian Department of Public Health, found 0.24 parts per million of lead in a batch of cherry-flavored bars. The FDA doesn't allow more than 0.1 parts per million because even a little too much lead can cause health problems for little kids, infants and pregnant women.

The company says its other Toxic Waste candies, marketed on its website as "hazardously sour," are OK and are unaffected by the recall. The potentially lead-laden bars were distributed to stores nationwide and also were sold by mail.

If you've got some of the bad bars, the company says to call (317-228-5012) for instructions on how to dispose of them.

Previously in candy recalls you can't make up: A retailer in Maine pulled bags of "Lobster Poo," a souvenir candy popular with tourists, last September because they contained undeclared peanuts, which could cause problems for people allergic to them."
