Helloooooooooo everyone!!!
How are you doing on this fine day?
I'm doing just fantastic thank you!

I usually work on Fridays, but for some odd reason they didn't put me on the schedule today! Now that I think of it....they haven't really put me on the schedule much in the past month or so. ::SIGH:: It's not like I'm a twenty year old girl living on her own that needs money to stay alive or anything like that ::DOUBLE SIGH:: I'll discuss my job at Disney a little bit more towards the end of this post.
How exactly did I spend yet another glorious day off of work?? The same way I usually do.....
I picked out an outfit......
I watched some of my favorite movies.......
It's hard to pick just one to watch, but my decision was pretty predictable.....
Roberta (one of my fav Fred & Ginger movies)
Up
I put gas in my car......
Your eyes aren't playing tricks on you. Gas in Orlando Florida is $3.79!!!! You think I would be very upset at a price like this, but I am extremely happy seeing as the rest of my family and friends are paying $4.15 a gallon back in Ohio! You poor poor Ohioans......

I apologize for gloating...but I have to while I still can....in about a week or so I'm sure gas will cost the same here :/
I drove by my all time favorite house......
Went to Barnes & Noble to peruse through the latest cook books and what nots.....
It took a lot of self control not to buy a ton of books today, but I did manage to pick out what my next buy is going to bee!

(Get it? Get it? BEE? I'm so funny!)
'Beekeeping for Dummies' shall be my next investment! Beekeeping is just fascinating to me! It is definitely one of the many activities/hobbies/jobs/lifestyles I'd like to dabble in prior to meeting my demise in about 90 + years.
Despite my lack of funds - I treated myself to a delicious lunch from Chick-fil-A.....
I worked on my supersecretbusinessthingyofsorts.........

And that pretty much sums up my day!
Like Promised.......
Here's a little bit of insight into my job at Disney........

I realized a few days ago that I always mention my job, but I've never really explained it. So here are just a few key points that'll basically tell you everything you need to know.....
::General restaurant info::
- I am a part time employee at Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida.
- This is a four diamond resort
-Boma is an Affrican buffet-style restaurant that serves only breakfast and dinner for $15-$35.99 a person.
- We serve anywhere from 700 - 1200 guests a night.
- The restaurant is pretty much reservation only - but walk ins are accommodated on a first come first serve basis.
- Boma is an open kitchen so us chefs/cooks are up close and personal with the customers at every point in the service
- Breakfast consists of things such as pancakes, omelets, sausage, bacon, french toast, carved ham, oatmeal, breakfast potatoes, cereal, corn bbeef bobotie, scrambled eggs - etc.
- Boma's breakfast spread was named "Best breakfast in Florida" several times.
- Dinner (the shift I work) consists of foods like traditional African dishes, soups, salads, desserts, and fire-grilled meats.
-The dinner menu changes daily, and there are over 60 items offered on the buffet.
-Boma is very accommodating to guests with allergies. Meaning - the chefs will go out of their way to prepare special dishes for guests who cannot eat foods that are on the line.
-Famous singers, athletes, and musicians dine at the restaurant/stay at this particular hotel frequently.
- Unlike most buffet lines, where people stand in lines and work their way across the restaurant - Boma has "pods" each with a different selection of food. (I.e. Soup pod, kid pod, salad pod, sides pod, etc.) You can usually find me working the kid pod or soup pod - they have yet to train me on other pods.
- Behind the restaurant/resort there is a man made African Safari filled with a number of animals including a few familiar favorites: giraffes, wildebeests, zebra, and my personal favorite - OKAPI'S!!!!
::Information pertaining to fellow employees and myself::
- I am one of few women working in the kitchen during dinner service.
-I am the youngest person working in the kitchen.
-I am one of the only people working in the kitchen that is younger than 30.
-My fellow employees are mostly 40+ year old Hispanic, French, and Haitian men.
- My role in the kitchen is pretty much the goofy clumsy girl that can't reach anything on the top shelf in the walk in cooler.
- I provide comedic relief in most situations and usually find everyone laughing with me.....or at me.....depends on the situation really lol.
-The kitchen staff gets along very well, and is pretty much like a big ol happy family....well - happy for the most part lol.
-Everyone is very kind, helpful, and patient with me. Even though I've worked at Boma for about 2 1/2 months there are still many things to learn, work on, and perfect.
::One last tidbit::
At the end of the day - I work in a kitchen. For those of you who work in one, you know exactly what I mean. The fact that the restaurant I work at is located within WDW does not mean that the dynamic of the kitchen, or the characters in the kitchen are any different. I don't want to lead any of you to believe that there is magic, and flashing lights, and Mickey Mouse doing backflips through the walk-in cooler lol. It's not really any different than other restaurant jobs I've had. I will say that WDW is a very good company to work for. And I am very pleased to be able to add it to my resume, but like I said, don't let the glitz and glamour of WDW make you think I'm doing work any different than the rest of you.
No matter what kitchen you work in - No matter what style of dining - No matter the price range - And no matter the location - working in a kitchen is very hard work. The hours are long. The pay isn't high enough. And the people you serve aren't always the nicest. But food is what we love, so we show up every day despite the small things that bother us.
Well that's all the chit chat you'll get from me today!!

I hope you enjoy the jazz music I've included at the bottom of this post :)
Tomorrow I will make sure to include a kitchen gadget, restaurant, and a video or two!!
I hope each and every one of you have a fantastic day.
Treat your body right - it's the only one you have!!
Let us begin......
[[Today’s music]]
Due to the fact that my dad is a professional jazz pianist/musician - I grew up listening to jazz. Big band jazz to be specific. I have the biggest appreciation for this genre of music, probably bigger than any other twenty year old I know. Hats off to the handful of young musicians who are keeping jazz alive and well today. This is literally the only type of music I listen to when I’m driving home from work late at night. It’s perfect.
These are INCREDIBLE musicians to say the absolute least.
Just a handful of the greats
CHARLIE PARKER & DIZZY GILLESPIE
OSCAR PETERSON - YOU LOOK GOOD TO ME
ART TATUM – YESTERDAYS
I was born in the wrong era.
I could listen to this all day long.

I love the post... AGAIN, lol! There's a jazz musician I recently got turned onto named Jose James. He's from Minneapolis, Minnesota at is really talented! A young guy keeping "jazz alive and well" as you would say. Keep up the good work!
