How Did I Overlook 'Maters and Taters'?

Hellooooooooooo everyone!
How are you doing today?
I myself have had a wonderful day so far!

I strongly suggest you listen to either of these songs whilst perusing through the rest of today's post.....

Today's dress.......

You wanna know what aggravates me about dresses? I have really long legs for a girl my size, so even if dresses are long, they appear to be super short, and I end up looking like a hooch magooch.

I suppose i could end this aggravation by wearing pants, but I refuse to cover up these legs in this hot Florida heat. No way, no how, no sir. ::sigh:: Damn you legs!!

I love love love this dress.

Ok ok.... this isn't really a dress lol. It's actually a shirt that I wear as a dress. I figured that it's just long enough to pass as a dress so I might as well pretend it is one! As always - I threw on a pair of black shorts underneath for peace of mind. I don't want to be all paranoid about the possibility of my lady bits being exposed to the entire Orlando population all day long lol. (Am I the only girl who worries about that?) Ergo - shorts under dresses. Easy fix.

Today's breakfast

Two pieces of whole wheat toast, peanut butter, walnuts, raisins, agave nectar and vanilla soymilk.
I will never ever get tired of this combination. Yum to the max.

Today's must buy......

This is the only brand of toothpaste I can use. "What do you mean Jenna?" I mean I can't use Crest, Colgate, Ultra Brite, Aquafresh, etc. Why? Because the aforementioned toothpastes make my gums peel, and my dentist told me that gum peeling is a "pre cancerous" sign. He strongly recommended that I use Tom's instead. Tom's products are naturally sourced, so he figured it wouldn't be nearly as harsh on my mouth as the other toothpastes are. He was right.

Unfortunately this means I have to spend close to five dollars on one tube of toothpaste. But then again - what's five dollars every few weeks compared to mouth cancer?
Not only does Tom's sell toothpaste, but they also sell deodorant, mouthwash, dental floss, and soap as well!

I suggest you should use Tom's if:
You're having bad reactions to other products
You want to use cruelty-free products
You're wanting to spice up your daily brushing regimen
You just want to support a really great company

Today's local food market adventure.....

I have passed a little corner produce shop called 'Maters and Taters' almost every single day since I moved to Florida in January, but I never once stopped. Why didn't I stop? To be quite honest....I was afraid to lol. This place looks low key sketchy from the outside. But what I've learned in the past (i.e. my favorite restaurant back home) is to never ever judge a book by it's cover. So today - I mustered up enough courage to stop judging, and pull over!

Here' a little glimpse into my eye opening trip:

I intend on going back to Maters and Taters to buy this nightlight.
So freaking awesome!!

Can bread get any better than this?
It's baked fresh daily by a local bakery, it doesn't contain preservatives, AND it's vegan! Not to mention this GIANT loaf is only twenty cents more expensive than the bread I've been buying, and it's two times larger!!

I stood in front of this wall for about fifteen minutes "oohing" and "aahhing" at the honey, jam, butters, and preservatives. It's like heaven to me!!! All the while a lovely store employee explained all of the products in great detail to me, down to exactly which state each of the products are from, what the companies are all about, how long the companies have been around, and which are from Amish farmers.
Gotta love the Amish.
They make such great foods.

For a mere twenty three dollars I took home......

Two apples, an asian pear, celery, a bosc pear, an onion, a peach, three bananas........

a giant loaf of beautiful marbled whole wheat vegan bread that is baked fresh daily in a local bakery that doesn't use preservatives.....

and last but not least I purchased - Pumpkin butter, F-R-O-G Jam, and Apple Butter!
(I will most definitely be explaining how these three rocked my world within the next few days)

I am so very ashamed of myself for not stopping prior to today. This is the only place I should've been buying my produce from the past five months. THE ONLY PLACE. Why was I giving my money to giant supermarkets every other day?? ALDI, Winn Dixie, Publix and Wal Mart most certainly do not need my money, but this little place does! I always pride myself on being such a big advocate when it comes to supporting local restaurants, companies, markets, foods, and farmers. And yet here I was being a judgy mcjudgerson and refusing to stop at such a wonderful place! This little market will be the only place i shop for produce from now on :D

Today I made peanut butter sushi!!!

Want to make this "sushi" yourself? No problem! Just scroll to the bottom of this very post to collect your very own step by step peanut butter "sushi" recipe! You're welcome :)

Today I received a long awaited package in the mail containing.......

Mike's Hot Honey!! I'm so freaking excited to try this!!
Do you remember when I featured a video about Mike's Hot Honey last week? No? Well Click here to relive the magic and see why I'm so jazzed! Too bad I have to wait until Sardayt to taste it :( Curse you Vegan Challenge!

Today I enjoyed my favorite combination of tea.......

Fruity herbal tea + fruity oolong tea = Fruityteainsanity!

It is time I bid you all farewell!

I hope each and every one of you have a healthy and happy day!
As always: Be kind to your body, it's the only one you have.

Let us begin.....

[[Today's recipe]]

PEANUT BUTTER SUSHI

Why refer to these little treats as "sushi" and not "peanut butter roll ups"?
Because 1. Sushi sounds way better and 2. They actually look similar to small pieces of sushi!

Are you heading to party but have absolutely no time to make an extravagant dish? Want to trick your fellow party goers into thinking you put a lot of time and effort into a tasty treat when you really didn't? Look no further! This extremely simple peanut butter sushi recipe is fool proof. All you need are a few ingredients, and a funky plating presentation and you'll definitely 'wow' the crowd :)

Want a recipe that you can make with your kids? Look no further! This recipe is so simple your kids could probably do it all by themselves! (Minus the usage of knives of course). It's safe to say this recipe is simple, versatile, and very delicious. Just see for yourself!
::Side Note::
If you're allergic to peanuts then I insist that you try this recipe using a different type of butter! Perhaps you can try one of these: almond butter, hazelnut butter, pumpkin butter, apple butter, sunflower seed butter, etc.

::Ingredients::

-Main Ingredients-
Peanut butter
Bread

-Optional Ingredients-
Banana
Apple
Walnuts
Raisins
Celery
(Pretty much anything you'd like to pair with peanut butter)

Pairing your peanut butter sushi with a few ramekins of assorted dipping sauces is a sure fire way to class up this easy dish! What are in my ramekins? Agave Nectar, Pumpkin Butter, Apple Butter, and F-R-O-G Jam! Remember: Variety is the spice of life :)

::Directions:

- Trim the crusts off your favorite bread (I used a thick whole wheat bread here)

You better not waste the crusts!! It's the best part! How about you dip them in the aforementioned dipping sauces and snack on them until you are finished making your sushi ;)

- Use a rolling pin to gently flatten each slice of bread

- Spread your favorite peanut butter over one side of the bread

Pay no attention to the picture below- I placed WAY too many fruits and veggies on the tiny pieces of bread. My advice? Be sure to add only two to three slices of apple, celery, banana, etc. to each piece of bread. If you add too much - then the bread won't fold over! Trust me....I made this a few times lol.

- Place your favorite sliced fruits, veggies, nuts, and candies on the left hand side of your bread.

Now for the fun part! Or the frustrating part, depending on how flat your bread is, and whether or not your bread will actually stick together lol

- Gently roll the bread starting from the left and going to the right, making a thick cigar-like tube. Making sure to keep all of the mixins tucked in.

If your bread is too thick and you're having trouble keeping it together, then I suggest you do what I did and stick several toothpicks through it for about five minutes or so prior to slicing the bread.

- After your sushi is all rolled up it's time to cut! The size of each piece of sushi is really up to you. With the size of bread I was working with I thought it was best to make two slices, which gave me three pieces of sushi. My recommendation is to use your judgement!

Not using an extremely thick and hearty piece of unruly bread?
This is what your sushi process should look like.....

Much much much easier.

The sushi on the left is the hearty bread, and the one on the right is the thinner piece of bread. It is clear that the thinner bread produces a more clean cut type sushi, whereas the hearty one looks a little haphazard. But of course I prefer the heartier one because it is a healthier piece of bread! So it's up to you which bread you prefer!

What's the next step?
My favorite step of all - Plating!!
How exactly should you plate up your sushi? Be the artist that you are, and put it together however you so choose! :)

- Last step -

- Dip in your favorite dipping sauce

And enjoy!!!

I sure did ;)
