Ch ch ch Chia!

Hellooooooooooooo everyone!
How are you doing on this fine Thursday? I'm doing magnificent!
I feel like I got a lot of things accomplished today even though I didn't really do anything at all!

Today I: made breakfast, watched 'Regis and Kelly' on the telly, somehow managed to turn my head into one giant curl ball (which i'll demonstrate how exactly I do this within tomorrows post), went to the grocery store, watched 'St. Elmo's Fire'........

I made baked sweet potato fries (which will be tomorrows featured recipe), proceeded to eat almost all of the aforementioned fries all by my little lonesome, I took a two....err....five hour nap lol, woke up, talked to an awesome friend back home about a possible job endeavor, which brings you up to date!

I am so very happy I decided to buy this purse the other day.......

Any purse that looks and/or feels even remotely retro is ok in my book. And the fact that it has a lovely clasp like this is a giant cherry on top of this ice cream sundae of a purse :) I love when purses snap shut like this. I hate purses with zippers. Don't get me wrong, I have a ton of purses with zippers, it's just........I always manage to get my hair caught in them.....don't ask me how......I just do lol.

Do you remember the two pairs of heels that I really really really wanted to buy the other day, but decided it would be best if I didn't? Well.......

I drove back to Marshalls and bought both of them -_-

I just couldn't help it. They're perfect for me. It's as if these shoes were made with me in mind. Just look at them! They're pretty, and they have flowers, and they came in two different colors, and I couldn't decide between one or the other, and I decided I needed both, and they were very inexpensive for a pair of heels, and....and....and....they're just so pretttyyyyyy!!!!!

What's so funny is - I usually don't wear heels, and by 'usually' I mean I never wear them. Why? Because it's been pointed out on several occasions that I walk like an awkward giraffe when I do lol. Im much more comfortable wearing little flats, because I'm a lot closer to the ground. In the event that I trip in flats, the ground isn't all that far away (I trip and fall a lot in case you were wondering lol). I eventually want to look like a normal person walking in heels, so I figured I need a little practice. How can I practice if I don't buy a new pair every now and then? Hu? Ok....now I'm just making excuses....there's no excuse.....I didn't really need these.....I have other heels to practice in lol.

::SIGH::
I'm so ashamed I don't even know what to say anymore.......

.....but then again......I'm not really all that ashamed lol.

Watched 'Easy A' last night and was quickly reminded that this scene was created for me/about me…….

This video is the closest example I can provide for my readers as to what type of person I really am, and how exactly I go about my days. This pretty much sums up my life.....

Don't pretend like you don't do this too. Perhaps you don't break out in song as much as I do....because let's face it.....it's pretty much nonstop on my end, but I know you've all done this at least once in your life lol.

Let's talk peanut butter shall we?

I purchased this jar of McCutcheon's peanut butter from Maters and Taters just a few days ago and I finally got a chance to try it out this morning!

McCutcheon’s is a family owned and operated business that’s been around for four generations. This company makes, jams, hot sauces, relishes, salad dressings, honey, jellies, preserves, fruit butters, juice sweetened spreads, baking mixes, BBQ sauces and more! McCutcheons only uses natural fruit juices as sweeteners, real cane sugar, and absolutely NO high fructose corn sweeteners.

::Taste Test::

This is the most natural tasting peanut butter I’ve tried thus far, and probably one of my favorites as well. It has an extremely pasty like consistency that is somewhat gritty , which makes it a little difficult to spread on bread. It’s not particularly sweet like some peanut butters are. Its very difficult to describe the flavor without sounding like a complete moron, because all I can think to say is "It literally taste like ground up peanuts".

Of course that description sounds absolutely ridiculous and a “No DUH Jenna, that's because that's what peanut butter is" probably came out at least one of your mouths. BUT let me just say that I’ve tried several peanut butters that do not taste like this. Peanut butters that taste super sweet and overly processed, and have a dessert like thing going on about them. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I like my peanut butter to taste like someone's grandma just ground the peanuts up herself, and whipped it up in the kitchen five minutes ago. Which is exactly what this taste like.

Well done McCutcheon's - I can't wait to try the rest of your products!

I used this delicious peanut butter in my breakfast this morning.......

Whole wheat vegan toast topped with McCutcheon's PB, agave nectar, walnuts, raisins, and chia seeds.

HOLY YUM!
This is a flavor packed combo.
My new favorite for sure.

I've been tossing Chia seeds on just about EVERYTHING these past few days........

Because the health benefits are absolutely out of this world!
This is quite possibly one of the healthiest items around.

What exactly are chia seeds?

Chia seeds are edible seeds that come from the desert plant called 'Salvia Hispanica'. This plant is a member of the mint family and it grows quite abundantly in southern Mexico. You are probably most familiar with the chia sprouts due to the popular novelty planters called 'Chia Pets' (the seeds in the chia pets have not been approved by the FDA, so I advise you purchase yours at a health food store or online). Believe it or not but the seeds are actually the most important part of the entire plant!

What do Chia seeds taste like?

It is said that chia has a sort of nut like flavor, but I couldn't really decide what I thought it tasted like. All I know is that they are an interestingly tasty/extremely healthy addition to my vegan challenge.

What exactly are the health benefits?

Chia is extremely rich in omega-3 fatty acids, even more so than the omega rich flax seeds. Chia is unable to deteriorate and is able to be stored for long periods of time without becoming rancid due to the fact that it is so rich in antioxidants! This is not necessarily the case when it comes to flax seeds. Also, unlike flax seed, chia seeds do not have to be ground up to make the nutrients available for the body to absorb. These seeds also provide a heaping load of fiber, amino acids, phosphorus, calcium, manganese, iron, copper, magnesium, niacin, zinc, and molybdenum!

Not only are chia seeds healthy they're also energizing, they reduce cravings, they're easily digestible, and they're extremely convenient & versatile. Want to learn more about Chia seeds? I strongly suggest you visit this website right this very second! : The Chia Seed

Well it's time I bid you all farewell!

I hope each and every one of you have an amazing day. Please do your best to always stay positive, and be kind to the people around you. And as always: be sure to treat your body with love and respect. It's the only one you have!!

FOOD PYRAMID LOSES ITS EDGE

“The U.S. Department of Agriculture is planning to swap in a plate icon for the food pyramid this week, an individual familiar with the new guidelines told CNN Saturday. The new image, expected to be unveiled Thursday, is meant to help remind Americans to make healthy food choices.

"We presume that it will be divided into sections that will show you how much of different types of foods you should be eating," said Elizabeth Cohen, CNN senior medical correspondent, about the plate image. The USDA said in a statement this week that the new food icon would be "part of a comprehensive nutrition communication initiative that provides consumers with easy-to-understand recommendations, a new website with expanded information, and other tools and resources."

It did not say then what the new icon would be. The Food Guide Pyramid was introduced in 1992 and replaced in 2005 by MyPyramid. "The pyramid, to put it gently, is not considered a great public health success," said Cohen. "It was confusing and divided into lots of intricate sections."

The original version is the widely recognized pyramid that shows a hierarchy of food groups. Grains, vegetables and fruits were represented at the base of the pyramid, suggesting they should be eaten often. Foods to be consumed in some moderation, like fats, dairy products and meats, were toward the top of the icon.

The 2005 version had vertical, rather than horizontal, blocks representing the various food groups. It also had a figure stepping up the side of the pyramid, reminding consumers of the need to exercise.”

(1) LET'S TALK DITA.....

I love anything and everything that reminds me of the 30s 40s and 50s, so it's no wonder I think Dita Von Teese is the bees knees! Dita is the epitome of old hollywood (minus the nudity and such lol).

If I could trade wardrobes with anyone in the world it would be with this lovely lady. Love the hair, love the lips, love the skin, love the nails, love the outfits. (Not to mention she has the most amazing kitchen! You should google it, its a beautiful pink explosion!)

I've grew up admiring the wardrobes of women such as: Ginger Rogers, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, and Rita Hayworth. Give me a few years to kick up my wardrobe guys. I've been waiting my entire life to be able to afford/be old enough to dress like the aforementioned old hollywood stars.
I can assure you my style won't be too far from Ditas....

(2) NICHOLAS BROTHERS IN STORMY WEATHER

No wonder Fred Astaire referred to this as “the greatest dance number ever filmed.” It’s absolutely astonishing. Can you believe that this was recorded in ONE take?

(5) STROLLER SKATEBOARDS

I don't think I can wait until I have children to buy this thing....I'll just have to buy one and push skate my friends around town in it.
