Glutenfreetastic

Hellooooooooooo everyone!
How are you doing on this fine Wednesday?
I am doing just peachy thank you!
I feel more relaxed at this very moment than I have in about six months. This relaxation can be fully attributed to the fact that I've slept on and off the entire day lol. I'm unemployed at the moment so besides searching for jobs I don't really do much besides blog, sleep, make food every once in a while, and watch old Hollywood movies. Until I get a job I see absolutely nothing wrong with this new lifestyle of mine (and by new I mean today was the very first day I did it lol).

I'm going to keep todays beginning monologue quite random and quite short so we can hurry up and get to all of the featured section goodness!! Hmmmmm where to begin.......

Three of my cooking magazines arrived in the mail!!

Can't wait to see what goodies await me inside!

My mother clipped every single hidden treasure puzzle out of the newspaper when I was in FL and gave them to me today!

The hidden treasure puzzle (aka seek and find) can be found within our newspaper every Wednesday and Sunday. So naturally Wednesdays and Sundays are my favorite days because I LOVE these puzzles!! When I first moved in FL in January - my mother was clipping and mailing them to me every few weeks. But I think she stopped doing that once she found out I was coming back home. It's safe to say that I hit the freaking jackpot today! It's like seek and find Christmas in my house!

I never ever ever look at the key prior to finding the items. Why? Because it is WAY more challenging when you have absolutely no idea what you're supposed to be looking for in the first place. Only sissy baby girls look at the key.....that.....and six year olds. Who are probably the only other people doing these puzzles besides me lol.

Once I feel that I have found every single item there could possibly be I look at the key and see how I did! Today (without looking at the key prior to) I found every single item but one of the hearts. This really irked me good. First of all - I hate when I don't find everything. And second - I really hate when I can't find it after I look at the key. My biggest problem is that I really really hate to leave a puzzle unfinished. I was late to several morning classes in college because I had to find every single item within the seek and find prior to getting up from my kitchen chair.
I'm not afraid to admit that I have a serious hidden treasure problem.
I believe that admitting is the first step.....or something of that nature lol.

My mother also cut out an article in the newspaper about local farmers markets!!

This wonderful article goes into detail about several farmers markets, lists a ton of markets in my area, and also lists the peak seasons for local fruits and vegetables!

This article will definitely come in handy when I finally get a job.
Why? Because job = money for groceries. Let us not forget that I spend money at the grocery store like some women spend at Louis Vuitton. It's not that I'm buying a million groceries at once - that's not what's costing me a fortune. It's due to the fact that I have a very sophisticated/picky/expensive/hoity toity taste in food.
I can't wait to put this article to good use!

I enrolled myself at Premier Ladies Fitness center today!

Prior to moving to Florida in January - I was enrolled at this particular gym for about eight or nine years. It is only five minutes away from my house, and it is ten times better than the rinky dink gym I was attending in FL. I called Preier today to see if my membership was still good, and the woman told me it expired in April. DRATS!

So I drove my happy butt up the road to Premier and purchased a new membership! Pretty soon I'll be back in my tip top shape again! I'm not going to lie - I kind of let myself go when I was in Orlando, and I feel like a big ol slob as a result of that. So it's prime time to become a lean mean work out machine once again!

::Side note::
It was very difficult to take a picture of the building out of my passenger side window while driving. Lol.

I tried Rudi's gluten-free Multi Grain bread today for the very first time!!

About five months ago I talked to one of Rudi's associates via e-mail about doing a review of Rudi's multigrain gluten free bread on CCH. I think there must've been some sort of miscommunication between the two of us, because I waited a month and a half for my bread to come in the mail and it never did! Eventually my mom called me on the telephone and told me that the bread was mailed to our house in Ohio, and that she put in the freezer immediately. I guess I gave the wrong address! My bad lol. Well I totally forgot about the bread up until yesterday when my mom reminded me that it was in the freezer! So I pulled that bad boy out, thawed it out, and tried it for the very first time today. Yaaaay!!!

It is my pleasure to present to you the review I've been meaning/wanting to write for months:

(I also received a wonderful sandwich container/holder as well!)

Review time!

Three initial thoughts came into my head after inspecting this piece of bread.
My first thought was that It appeared to be much smaller in size than the average piece of bread. My second thought was that it was much thicker/dense than the average piece of bread. My third thought was that it smelled extremely fresh. It's a wonderful potatoey, ricey, yeasty type of smell.

I decided to try the bread three different ways, because you know me, I can't just base my judgement of a food product on one particular form of it alone. I have to pair the product with other things and see how it tastes from there. Hypothetically speaking let's say that I wanted to review a brand of bread and I decided to only taste it with peanut butter. And what if I didn't like the way it tasted with that peanut butter, and chalked it up to the product being bad. Well that's just silly! Maybe I would've liked it by itself, maybe it would've tasted great with honey, butter, jelly, or as a sandwich!

This is the sort of mentality I have when going into reviews on bread and things of that nature. And you should too when trying products/brands! Try them different ways and then base your judgement off of your collective opinion. Long story short - I decided to taste this bread three different ways. I tried it plain, toasted with peanut butter, and as eggs in a basket!

::Plain::

Holy Yum!

What I like about this bread is that it has a really really great flavor all by itself. I never usually grab a piece of bread and just eat it alone without toasting it, using it for a sandwich, or topping it with peanut butter and honey. But I liked the distinct flavor and texture of this bread so much that I ate the entire piece! I've never tasted bread with this sort of flavor before. I can't really describe it other than saying that it tasted just as fresh as it smelled. Not bad for a loaf of bread that's been in the freezer for a couple of months! Lol

Although this gluten free bread is quite dense, it wasn't as time consuming to chew as I thought it would be. Most thick breads are very hard to chew, and make you full extremely fast, but the holes in Rudi's bread (which is due to the bubbles of gas that yeast forms) makes this bread very light and fluffy in texture.

::Toasted with peanut butter on top::

Oh wow. This bread tastes ten times better toasted!

It's almost like a different piece of bread all together. Who would've thought that a light toasting could bring out such a flavor? Not only did I enjoy the flavor a lot more when it was toasted, but the texture was completely different than it originally was as well. Some of you must be thinking "no duh the texture is different Jenna, you toasted it. That changes the texture." I am well aware the toasting bread changes the texture somewhat, but not usually in this type of manner.

The crunch is just wonderfully wonderful. Crunch is key when it comes to a good piece of toast. If the crunch isn't good, it's no good in my book. Why is crunch so important to me? Because I eat toast just about every single morning for breakfast. Breakfast is my absolute favorite meal and I expect it to be a certain way. Ergo - crunchy toast. (I've put a lot of thought into this if you haven't noticed lol).

::Eggs in a basket::

Before I put in my two cents let me just start off by saying:
My favorite part about eating eggs in a basket is using the crunchy/toasty bread(that gets it's wonderful crunch from the olive oil I use in the pan) to soak up the egg yolk. When you bit into it there is this great crunchyyolkygoodness thing going on. It's just the perfect combination! (I highly recommend you click on the link above and give the recipe a go if you haven't already).

Holy Yum!!
Eggs in a basket is already one of my absolute favorite breakfast items to begin with, but this bread just kicked it up a notch! Seeing as this bread has such a great crunchy texture when toasted, it made for a wonderful eggs in a basket!

All in all this bread is great! Great flavor, great texture, great smell. Problems? The only beef I have with it is that it tends to break in half if you don't handle it with the utmost care!

"Oh hello there. I'm just reading the morning paper and enjoying my delicious gluten free eggs in a basket! What's that you say? Do I intend on purchasing Rudi's gluten free bread in the near future? Why yes. Yes I do. And you should too!!"
