48 Hours.

Hellooooooooooooo everyone!
How are you all doing on this glorious Sunday?
I'm just peachy keen thank you!

I have Sundays and Mondays off of work, so today is the beginning of a very relaxing 48 hours. I'm going to spend the first 24 hours of my free time makeupless in my pajamas whilst watching old movies and blogging. That's true relaxation for me. That and not having to put my contacts in. Let it be known that I am in absolute love with my Wal Mart Jennifer Lopez brand glasses lol.

People rarely see me in my glasses because I only wear them when I don't have my contacts in. Well the only time I'm not wearing my contacts is when I'm at home, so the only people who get to see them is my family. Nows the time to let my glasses shine lol.

Dear J-Lo: You had me at polka dots.
Thanks for catering to my style sista fran.
I should really wear them out more.

OK - time to lay back down and get to blogging business....

I'm fully aware of the fact that I'm going to drift in and out of sleep multiple times today, so forgive me if this is all over the place lol. My thought process is usually a little willy nilly to begin with, but I can only imagine what'll happen after falling asleep and waking up all day long lol.

Let my lazy day commence....

::Caution::

My days off of work tend to be the days where my CCH posts are the longest. So if this is a mile long: I'm sorry & you're welcome all at the same time lol. Kick back and relax while I do what I do best..... talk my head off.

This definitely made my morning....

One of my best friends Katey (who I haven't seen in months) sent me word of it and I about died lol.

Prior to Katey moving out of Dayton for her job - we were inseparable. One of the main things we would do to pass the time was drive around, no particular destination in mind, listening to music. We would BLARE Bohemian Rhapsody and sing the entire song (full out voices and all mind you) at the top of our lungs.

When I moved back from Florida last summer the very first thing Katey and I did - after reuniting in the middle of my street (I was in my pajamas without shoes on) jumping up and down hugging and screaming like little girls because we were so happy to see each other lol - we drove around in the rain singing Queen for about an hour in her car. If you ever have the pleasure of being in a car, or intoxicated at a bar, with Katey and I - you are more than likely going to witness this intense/relentless sing along first hand.

::Side note:: Katey is coming to town next weekend with her beau for a few days and I'm soooooo excited! Friends and family are a top priority in my life, so hanging out with this gal will definitely be at the top of my to-do list! Good honest friends are hard to come by, so never take them for granted -a bit of free Jenna advice for all of you. You're welcome lol.

Cue Marcies daily cameo on CCH.....

More often than not Marcie is sitting on my lap when I blog. I can tell that she's really tired today because she's actually sitting still for a substantial amount of time - which is a real rarity. Typically she's kissing my face relentlessly, or continuously jumping on and off of my lap. But today she's just being a good little girl.

Oh how I do love her.

After sleeping in for a couple of hours I made my mom and I french toast......

My dad and sister were still in bed (not unusual on a Sunday morning) so they missed out lol. You snooze you loose when it comes to my making breakfast. It's the very first thing I do when I wake up in the morning, so if you aren't awake to partake in the breakfast festivities then you're on your own.

I tend to be picky when it comes to my syrups, so I was a bit skeptical with this one. But it is actually pretty good. I prefer honey over syrup regardless, but this did the trick.

I whipped up four eggs with a bit of milk, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and pumpkin pie spice. Made for a nice french toast batter. Topped it off with the aforementioned syrup and banana slices that I sautéed in the pan for a bit. Sautéing the bananas slices will soften them and caramelize them just a bit which brings forth natural sugars. It makes the banana much tastier in my opinion.

I accompanied my breakfast with a big ol mug of coffee and cream.

My mom and I ate our french toast and caught up on this weeks episode of 'Vampire Diaries'. No shame in my hot vampire watching game lol. Ian Somerhalder is one beautiful man. Even if I didn't like VD I would definitely watch it on mute and just stare at Ian for an hour.

Enough said.

Even after my little rant the other day about Victoria's Secret- I was still super stoked to get my Angel Card in the mail.......

Turns out I'm a nit wit (what's new?) because I thought the Angel Card was a rewards card. Turns out it's actually a credit card. No DUH Jen lol. Like always - I had to have my mom explain that one to me. I suppose I was right in one way or another because I do earn points with my purchases. Rewards card....credit card.... reward credit card - it's all the same thing right? Right? Lol. I still don't know.

All I know is that this is a credit card, and all of my purchases that I thought were put on my Fifth Third credit card (the last time I went to VS and went ham lol) were actually put onto this card. SIGH. Did I ever mention the fact that I'm a nit wit sometimes? Well looks like I am lol.

Long story short I activated and paid off the $200 I owed on my new Angel card this morning. Yep.....I spent $200+ dollars on a bathing suit, three bras, and seven pairs of underwear lol. Ridiculous? Perhaps. Worth it? DUH. Totally lol.

With my angel card I got a little booklet with a ton of coupons and such.

I flipped through the booklet and noticed that 1. The coupons are awesome. and 2. most of the coupons can only be used online. The first one being $10 off of my purchase - that needs to be used online by the end of March. Seeing as I have absolutely no self control I decided it was necessary to use it today.... even after I spent $200 paying off my previous purchase Lol smh. I'm glad I have a good job or else I'd be in trouble.

I usually purchase 2-3 bathing suits per year (because god forbid I wear the same one over again lol) and as of now I only have one, so the bathing suit section of the VS website seemed as good of a place to start as any.

This one stood out above all of the others because it's polka dotted. Need I say more? I entered my size/color/quantity and when I clicked submit it told me I wouldn't get the bathing suit until June. June? PSH home girl can't wait til June for a bathing suit in the mail lol.

So onward to the bra section I went, but I couldn't for the life of me remember which styles I bought a couple of weeks ago. That's what I get for leaving my bras at my apartment. But then I remembered I was given this little guy after my fitting....

I'm still in the process of figuring out which one to buy. And by 'process' I really mean that I'm having a mental battle with myself as to whether or not I can continuously justify buying a $50 bra. It was easy when I was in the store because I had associates there coaxing me into it telling me how awesome I looked in everything. Although I must admit I really did lol.

Hmmm..... I think I'm going to finish today's post and then decide whether or not it's necessary. No matter what I still stand by the fact that big chested girls need quality bras, no matter the cost.

Excuses excuses Jen lol.

I've been listening to St. Vincent all day long.....

As of lately - if I'm not listening to St. Vincent I'm usually listening to Bon Iver. I don't typically listen to a ton of different artists at once. That's not to say that I don't like a plethora of music, because I really do. But I've come to find that I'm just the type of gal that tends to listen to one particular album until it's absolutely worn to the bone before I move on. But seeing as I love the two aforementioned artists so much - I don't see me getting tired of them any time soon.

St. Vincent has been my absolute favorite artist for years. Prior to my St. Vincent discovery I was in absolute love with Damien Rice. Sigh. Can't help but love a man with brooding beautiful music and a lovely Irish accent. But I digress....

Perhaps I'm biased because St. Vincent is just the most beautiful curly head I've ever seen.

Gorgeousness aside - she is just so unique - I can't help but love her music. I feel like if I were musically inclined the music I would be making would be very similar to hers.

If you haven't gotten around to listening to St. Vincents (or you just haven't heard of her prior to now) I suggest you wise up and do so! I have a feeling she is going to be big sooner than later. Her popularity has increased so much in the span of this past year.

::Side note::I have an odd relationship with music. I'm always wanting my favorite artists to succeed, and yet be mine and no one elses all at the same time. Yep - I'm one of those annoying people lol. I lay claim to my favorite artists and never think anyone else is allowed to like them because they'll never feel the same as I do. Like I said - odd relationship.

Speaking of St. Vincent - you might as well listen to her genius whilst perusing through the rest of today's post........

That's enough of today for now - let's rewind a bit to my last couple of days at work. Because who doesn't want to look at delicious food for the next ten minutes? If you answered "i don't" then you're obviously in the wrong place dealing with the wrong gal lol.......

Every work morning usually starts off with a text message from LA asking me if I'm awake.....

I never usually am awake lol.

A couple of days ago I was seriously off. I set my alarm for 7:40 a.m. because I thought I didn't have to be at work til 9. But of course I was wrong (because I have a terrible memory) and I really should've set my alarm for 6:40 because I had to be at work at 8. DUH Jen. Good thing I have LA lol.

I was about 40 minutes late to the kitchen, and of course LA and I had a TON of stuff to do......

It was a very hetic and stressful morning to say the least, so I don't have a ton to say on the matter lol. But i'd like to upload photos of it regardless. Because even though we were in a rush I of course made time to photograph a bit of it all........

Even though I was late coffee was a must the second I walked into the restaurant. Lee Anne and I needed all of the energy we could get.

LA then made soup......

While I made an idaho potato/sweet potato mash....

LA then made slaw.....

I popped meatloaf I assembled the previous night into the oven.....

.....and then we did a million other things between the two of us that I can't even remember.

Towards the end of service LA and I found ourselves in serious need of a pick me up, so I shared my odwalla juice with her.....

Yum city.

Our specials of the day.......

Meatloaf which could be served as a sandwich (on ciabata bread with aioli lettuce and tomato) or served on a mash (sweet potato, idaho potato, carlic and parsnip) - either way came with slaw on the side. The slaw consisted of red cabbage, fennel, green onion, 'chimi' sauce and pistachios!

We also had a steal head trout sandwich on ciabatta bread with tzatziki, lettuce, tomato and feta.

Don't let the above photographs of our Friday service fool you.....

this is just a miniscule look into our three hour hectic prep prior to service- we were running around like absolute MAD women trying to get ready in time. I mean I didn't even get a chance to take any pictures during the service! Not only did we have a ton of food to prep I also had to stop to change the fryer oil - which is an unfortunate thing to have to do on a hectic Friday morning when we not only have two specials to prep for but also a service worth of line items - but hey the oil had to be changed so there wasn't really anything I could do about it lol.

Don't get me wrong - I'm more than happy to do it all (I mean it is the career I chose, love, and adore - and my job is way rad. And I'm totally lucky to be apart of any of it.) but like any other career path kitchen life tends to take a toll on the body and mind every now and again and you just find yourself needing to step aside and take a break. I'm fairly young though, so I can take a beating. With that being said -this really was a day where I seriously just wanted a break from it all .

It goes without saying that we were in dire need of a drink......

Driving and taking pictures isn't the safest practice, but I'm a rebel so I do it anyway lol. South Park Tavern photographing is serious business. It is one of my favorite places after all.

I saw a lot of familiar beers on the board that brought up a lot of odd memories spent at SP with friends lol, but LA and I were having such a day that we told Kelly (our favorite bartender and all around rad gal) to give us something good and strong.

After trying the 12% twentieth Anniversary ale I was sold. Super strong delicious beer? Ummm.....the beer snobs say yes please. Yes please lol.

1. I looked rough to say the least.
2. Did I mention this was at 4 in the afternoon?
We don't mess around apparently lol.

Lol at my taking pictures of Kelly without her knowledge. I just want you guys to know who she is in case you decide to swing on by SP one day! lol

Round two probably wasn't a good idea...... but who really passes up an awesome 12% beer on a Friday afternoon? Most certainly not this gal.

I learned something new at SP on Friday that I guess is common bar knowledge:

Putting a coaster on top of your drink is the universal "I'll be right back" sign. Hmm...and here I thought leaving your beer unattended at the bar was the universal sign of "I'm a dumbass for leaving my drink unattended, please creepy man staring at me for the past hour, slip me something in my drink while I go to the bathroom." lol. Too far??

If I want to get up I usually take my drink with me lol.

HOLY YUM.
I love their pizza :)

After leaving South Park we found it necessary to go back to Bryan and Lee Annes to have another drink and a salmon platter.....

So good!

Can't have beer and pizza without a trip to the ice cream shop can you?

Well.....you probably can lol.
But we just couldn't resist!

Oh chello there!
(Honestly don't remember taking this lol)

Fast forward about twelve + hours (I was never good at math lol) to our Saturday morning making brunch for the masses at work......

This egg had a wart like growth on it! How crazy is that? LA and I go crazy over odd eggs every Saturday. We frequently find double yolk eggs, massive eggs, warped/rough shells, and even the occasional egg white only egg. I'm still hoping to find a full egg within an egg.... one day lol.

Our brunch specials......

Our specials were what I refer to as "all american" lol.
Super American style dishes all the way.....

A hearty meat loaf sandwich with aioli, fried leeks, lettuce and tomato!

Steak and eggs

Back to today.....

I just made chicken salad sandwiches and sauteed asparagus for my family for dinner.

And it was delicious :)

It is time I bid you all farewell!

"Gasp! Is she finally done talking?" Why yes hypothetical question asker. Yes I am lol. Even I get sick of hearing myself speak (or type) after a while lol. I hope you all enjoyed todays post. I most certainly enjoyed putting it all together! I hope each and every one of you are having a wonderful day! Until next time....

Peace out girlscouts.
