Love People. Cook Them Tasty Food.

Hellooooooooooooo everyone!

How are you doing on this fine day?
I'm just glorious thank you!

I spent an afternoon hiking with Shar through the woods near my house (the picture above was taken days ago -I was such a hot mess today I didn't even bother putting on lipstick!) followed with lunch and a movie. Twas a lovely impromptu day off of work.

One of you must be dying to ask "Don't you work on Wednesday? Why did you have the day off" Well hypothetical question asker - I'm glad you asked! Yes I typically work at the restaurant on Wednesdays, but I'm off because this weekend is going to be so hectic! (I'm pretty sure I'm working at 15+ hour shift on Saturday. Sheeeesh) We're taking part in this big charity dinner event type deal on Saturday, so a lot of time and effort will be going into all of the preparations Thursday and Friday night after lunch shift is over. I'm going to be running all over the place for the remainder of this week! Don't fret I'll tell you all about it later with pictures galore!

Before I get started - Don't forget to check out my new and improved About Me page before parting ways today! Ok perhaps "improved" isn't the best word to use (because it isnt professional by any means lol) but it is more entertaining than my last page so I look at it as an improvement.

I do believe it is prime time to drool over photographs I've taken of lunch specials we've been whipping out the last couple of weeks at Olive ....

I know I've mentioned it a number of times before but I feel the need/want to mention it again.....

The art that is food photography fascinates me to no end. Despite the fact that I'm not the most professional of photographers around (meaning I take all of these pictures on my fancy schmancy iPhone lol)- I strive day after day to capture beautiful photos of our food. I not only represent Olive through these photographs (I text them to our boss and she puts them on the restaurants facebook page every day) but I also represent Lee Anne and myself (Lee Anne being the friend that I typically work side by side with during lunch shifts - seldom to I get to work with Ben or Chris!)

Lest us not forget that along with owning my own business, being a bee keeper, having my own yacht, having blogging as my full time job, etc. I'd like to be a food photographer at some point in my career as well, so I'm sure I'll be using some of these photographs in whatever portfolio I'm going to have! So you can see how and why these daily photographs have become so important! Our food porn awaits.....

Bib lettuce tortillas filled with brown rice with a roasted shallot & bell pepper sauce - topped with a roasted beets slaw

Cobb salad consisting of chicken, hard boiled eggs, pancetta, tomatoes & feta tossed in a cilantro, lime, avocado & yogurt dressing

Kings cake - a traditional passover desert
(made by our pastry chef Justin!)

Cheesy broccoli soup

French onion soup

A grilled Caprese sandwich consisting of mozzarella, tomatoes, fresh basil, balsamic reduction, sweet garlic, and ciabatta bread brushed with butter! Holy yum this was sandwich was so good. I'm hoping it'll be on our summer menu!

This is by far my favorite way to bake a potato.

Fried chicken and hasselback potatoes garnished with a chive sour cream and pancetta.

Grilled portabella sandwich on ciabatta bread with soy cheese - served with a brussel sprout slaw with toasted walnuts and lemon vinaigrette.

Salt and vinegar fried potato wedges with a creamy herb sauce.

A triple cheese stuffed grass fed burger served with aioli, leeks, and bacon on a freshly made bun!

Biscuits and spicy sausage patty

German chocolate pie made by our pastry chef. I'm biased when it comes to chocolate, this I know, but holy guacamole this cake is out of this world beyond delicious!!!

Grilled chicken & bacon salad with an herby ranch dressing topped with tomatoes, cheddar cheese, and sourdough croutons!

Grilled romaine salad topped with chicken, bleu cheese, pancetta, tomatoes and sourdough croutons! Soup of the day: roasted red pepper & sweet potato drizzled with pesto!

Beer is food indeed......

As usual I've been beer snobbing it up at South Park a couple times a week with Lee Anne and Shar. I have no excuse for the amount of beer you are about to see other than - A girl needs a drink every now and then, you feel me? Lol.

::Side note:: Each picture was taken on a different day -I didn't drink it all at once lol. It is no secret amongst friends that I am a HUGE lightweight. Two 10% beers tops - any more than that and I'm done for!!

Surprisingly - Maharaja is pretty much all I've had to drink at south park the last couple of weeks (that and the a pint of dragons milk). Looking at the beer board now I suppose I could've had hop devil or double trouble to shake things up a bit - but those just don't impress me in comparison to maharaja.

Occasionally we'll order pizza with our beer. South park has absolutely delicious pizza!! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Do you guys remember when I planted my seeds a couple of weeks ago?

They're finally starting to sprout up!! Yaaaay! Wooooo! Yaaaaaaay! I've created life! Woooooooo! I am super beyond jazzed excited about my little seedlings. I feel all mighty and powerful lol. I mean in the span of just two days look how much my radishes grew....

Crazy right?
Growing right before our eyes!
Eeeek! So excited lol.

Can anyone tell me why there is bright green mold looking stuff growing in my pots? I haven't a clue.....

I can't wait to share more pictures of my little seedlings with you!
Fingers crossed that they keep growing like crazy :)

A few of my favorite things as of the last couple of weeks......

Watching tv with my sister before bed....

shopping - which is something that I never thought I would ever say lol.

(although I talked myself out of buying these cute flats...$60 seemed a little steep lol)

Ice cream

Clay facial masks.

Doing my makeup whilst lounging about my my fuzzy robe.

My new polka dotted dress.

My new wedges.

Pretty spring flowers all over town.

Sweet hangs with Shar.

We have a lot of funny video piling up for our our next BlaqueMour video.
Never a dull moment I can assure you.

Well that's all from me this evening....

I better get to sleep - I have an early morning ahead of me!!
I hope each and every one of you have a fabulous day!
As always - thank you for stopping by :)

(2) VICTOR CHURCHILL

(not really a restaurant...but oh well)

"The store boasts so many unique, custom-designed and exclusive features that the only way to absorb it all is a real-life visit. The features provoke, intrigue and amuse the customer – starting with the façade with its double-glazed, refrigerated vitrine for viewing the ever-changing array of hanging meat and poultry, plus selections displayed on custom-made copper and glass shelving. Inside, butchers work at timber butcher’s blocks on a “stage” behind floor-to-ceiling glass while specialty cuts of meat and carcasses, hung from a custom-designed cog gear and metal chain rack, slowly pass by. The backdrop for all this is a Himalayan rock salt brick wall that infuses the hanging meat with flavor and sterilizes the air."

(1) ENGLAND ELEVATOR WITH LICKABLE WALL PAPER

"Obviously inspired by Willy Wonka, McVitie's, a baked goods company in the UK, decided to make the edible magic real by turning an entire elevator... lickable. Yes, lickable. There are 1,325 lickable cookies lining the wall which you can lick up and down as you go up and down.

"This is gross, right? I shouldn't want to ride this elevator lined with Jaffa Cakes, which is apparently a sponge cake with orange jelly and chocolate, should I? But look at the people licking! They make it look so damn tasty. The 1,325 Jaffa Cake wallpaper took about a month to install and is housed in an elevator in London. It's all an advertisement, of course, but damn if I've ever seen a tastier one.

Oh and McVitie's wants you to know that once a cookie is licked, it's removed from the walls."

(2) GUMMI BEAR CHANDELIER

"The Candelier chandelier from Jellio features 5,000 hand-strung acrylic gummi bears surrounding a 50 watt CFL bulb. Only 10 of the 50-pound chandeliers will be made--and we're guessing they won't be cheap. But hey, isn't it worth it to be able to say that you have the sweetest chandelier ever?"
