Reunited and It Feels So Good!

Helloooooooooooo everyone!!!

How was your day?
Mine was just beyond fantastic!
Good times were had by all.

I suppose it goes without saying- but I'm quite pale these days lol. My skin is pretty alabaster all year long (mainly due to the fact that I avoid the sun and use an umbrella on most sunny days) but I allow myself a bit of wiggle room in the spring/summer for swimming, gardening, and walking the dogs. Thank goodness the weather is looking up. It's about time I took my skin on a walk!

Yaaaay for new dresses!

It's important to refrain from overly washing your clothing. I rarely wash my dresses. I'm sure a lot of you are thinking "ew Jenna that's gross." I'm not running marathons in them or anything lol. I see no reason to wash them after they're worn to the grocery store or around the house. Unless I've gotten something on a dress (which is probable because I'm clumsy) or unless they smells for some odd reason - they aren't washed very often at all. Washing not only fades the color, but it also wears the fabric out!

I'm very serious when it comes to my dresses lol.

As I always say - Timeless pieces are key. Dressing like a modern day Grace Kelly is more than acceptable in my book (Now all I need is a real pair of pearls and I'll be set). This simple black dress will go with just about anything, and it will last me years if I take care of it!

I can't help but spin in this dress. It's so much fun! I need to be careful though - I'm pretty sure I flashed a number of people whilst doing it today... how lady like of me lol.

Ohhhhhh it seems like just yesterday my Marcie was an itty bitty girl.....

When Marcie was a couple of months old she would sleep across my body with her little head on my shoulder. She still sleeps on top of me, but she's usually under the covers with her head on my stomach or the crook of my legs. She refuses to break contact with me during the night. If I roll over she climbs back on me. This annoyed me at first, but now I expect it. I'd be lying if I said I didn't get mad at her when she crawls to the bottom of the bed. How dare she abandon me lol.

As usual - this morning Marcie sat on my lap while I ate breakfast and read up on a few of my favorite food blogs.

My sisters dog Sasha (the jealous jeb that she is) decided that she was allowed to sit at the table too. The difference being - Marcie is 8 lbs and Sasha is probably 50 lol.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a crazy dog lady.
No shame in my game!

My Sunday usually starts off with my making breakfast for my mother and I .....

My dad and sister aren't morning people or breakfast people, so they don't usually partake in the festivities. Today I made pumpkin spiced french toast with caramelized bananas and maple syrup!

Reunited and it feels so good!!

I was soooooo beyond happy to be hanging out with one of my best friends and favorite curly heads - Katey - today! I haven't seen Katey in what feels like absolute ages! I've been looking forward to seeing her for weeks, so I made sure to clear my schedule for a much needed day long hang sesh.

This was our day in a nutshell.....

Brunch at 'Butter'.....

About three or four hours after I had breakfast..... I had breakfast again lol.
I can't pass up on my favorite meal two times in one day!
What kind of girl do you think I am??

We went shopping......

I've been to VS more in the past month than I have in my entire life lol.

All three of my rewards cards had $10 on them.... sigh.... and here I thought I'd actually have one with $500 off - Oh well - money is money!

I love Kateys dress. The style is super cute and it looks great on her!

I was in dire need of belts for my dresses, so I decided to buy four basic colors that'll match pretty much anything. Timeless pieces I tell you.

Lastly - we shared sushi with her brothers.....

Let it be known that I absolutely love sushi.

::side note::
In the bathroom at the restaurant I spent a good three minutes playing with this hand dryer. I suppose you could say that I'm easily amused. It's the little things in life lol.

What an absolute delight and refreshment it was seeing my Katey today! We ate, we shopped, I met her lovely beau, she fooled me big time in the April Fools department via engagement news, we sang Bohemian Rhapsody at the top of our lungs in the car, we shared new stories and reminisced on the old. Laughs were shared and good times were had by all.

I know getting older means starting new relationships, moving away, getting a serious job, having kids, etc. But I believe it is very very important to not only surround yourself with good friends, but make time to keep in touch and catch up with these friends as often as possible.

It'll keep you sane in the long run.

Well that's all from me today!

It's time for me to put my curly head to bed.
I have a lot of gardening to do in the morning :)

I hope you're all doing well.

xoxoxo - Jenna

Let us begin....

[[Todays music]]

(1) BAND OF HORSES – NO ONE’S GONNA LOVE YOU

(2) MICHAEL BUBLE – ME & MRS JONES

This is by far one of my favorite songs of ALL time. My dad is a professional jazz musician, so naturally I grew up listening to jazz and music influenced by it.

There are many covers of this song, but I just love listening to Michael sing so much. He is absolutely amazing in concert. If you like jazz music and/or Michael I suggest you go to one. My friend Jessica took me with her a couple of years ago when he was in town and he was amazing.

As I always say – I can’t help but love a good looking man in a fitted suit who sings jazz so smoothly. If he danced like Fred Astaire I think I’d pass out on the spot…

::swoon x10000000::

(3) BRUNO MARS - MARRY YOU

Bruno is one of the only mainstream artists I truly enjoy. Similar to Michael (but not quite to the same degree) he is greatly influenced by jazz - you can hear it in a majority of his music - which is probably why I like listening to him.

I love this song. It makes me happy just listening to it.... that and it makes me want to elope lol. I've always wanted to elope. I'm the most spur of the moment person I know, so I'm sure there will be little planning in this department. Life is too short. Do now - think later.

This mentality hasn't failed me yet!

[[Todays restaurants]]

(1) HOSPITAL THEMED RESTAURANT

"Named “Hospitalis”, it is a hospital themed restaurant in Riga, Latvia. The restaurant looks like a medicine cabinet, while you are treated as a patient and taken good care by the long-legged waitresses in nurses uniforms. The food is served in flasks and operating-room’s dishes, and customers can be tied up in straight jackets."

(2) DEBRA MESSING

[[Today’s recipe]]

HERSHEY KISS COOKIES

::Ingredients::

½ cup granulated sugar

½ cup brown sugar

½ cup peanut butter

½ cup margarine

1 egg

1 tablespoon milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 ¾ cups flour

1 tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

1 large bag of Hershey kisses

::Directions::

-I suggest you unwrap your Hershey kisses prior to beginning the cookie making process – only because this can take some time.

-Preheat oven to 375 degrees

-Cream sugars, peanut butter and margarine in a large bowl until smooth.

(I suggest softening the peanut butter in the microwave for 30 seconds and the margarine for 20-30 seconds prior to creaming- this will ensure that they are soft enough to cream with ease)

-Once creamed, add a slightly beaten egg to the mixture as well as milk and vanilla. Mix thoroughly.

-Add dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, salt) and mix until completely incorporated.

-Put about ¼ cup of sugar into a small bowl for rolling – and set aside

-Grab the dough with your hands (clean of course) and roll the entire mixture into small balls.

-Once the dough is in a ball like form – toss/roll each of them in the small bowl of sugar

(This will make a nice sugary sweet coating on the outside of the cookie. Yummm)

-Place the balls an inch or two apart on a baking sheet that is lined with parchment paper

(If you don’t have parchment paper it’s fine – as long as you have a good baking sheet)

-Bake cookies for 7 minutes.

-Remove from oven and add Hershey kisses on top of each cookie.

(Be sure to press them a little into the cookie- but not too hard of a press!)

-Place back in oven and bake for another 2-3 minutes

-Once the cookies are removed you must let them cool entirely so the chocolate kisses set back up to their original hard form

ENJOY THIS HOLIDAY FAVOR
