Seeds Galore

Hellooooooo everyone!
How are you doing on this fine evening?
I'm doing great thanks!
A little sleepy but great none the less.

::Cue Jenna big hands::
It is about midnight and I have to be up work at six thirty in the morning for work. Not looking forward to waking up so early in the least bit.... BUT it is Saturday so we're serving brunch at Olive AND brunch just so happens to be my absolute favorite day of the week to cook in the kitchen (It's no secret that I'm bat shit crazy over anything breakfast)! So I suppose I can't be all that mad about waking up early. If I didn't then who would cook all of the food??

Needless to say I should be getting to bed soon! So I'm going to challenge myself to hush up and see if I can let the pictures do a majority of the talking today! This will definitely ensure my getting to sleep faster. Fingers crossed lol......

Before we get started let me just say......

I almost won today.
I'm a patient girl.
I'll get mine eventually.

Dear Fred.....

Oh Fred. What could I possibly say? We could’ve been great together. But never as great as you and Ginger.

Fred danced with heaps of leading ladies in his day, but watching him dance with Ginger is absolutely mesmerizing. No comparison. Oh how I miss the 40s…..I wasn’t even there and I miss it. Lol.

::swoon::

Speaking of mesmerizing - the skates are a nice touch in ‘Top Hat’.

The past few days at Olive.....

For the past month or two I've been meaning to run across the street from the restaurant so I can take a picture of the entire building, but unfortunately I've never had a chance to do so. So I decided it would be a better idea to snap a picture as I'm driving either to work or from work.

I've relentlessly tried taking pictures of the building as I'm turning left in the morning, but it's never panned out until this morning lol. Wooday Woot!! I don't condone taking photographs while driving.....but hey - I finally got the picture - the proof is in the pudding lol.

I haven't been getting much sleep lately due to hasty blogging times, drinking coffee too late in the day, accidentally taking naps when I get home from work, and staying up late. So coffee has been a must every single morning. Lee Anne and I need fuel to properly run the lunch shift! If you ever come to Olive I do suggest you order coffee. It is very very good.

LA and I drink iced coffee in the morning because the kitchen gets so darn hot it's almost impossible to bear drinking anything without ice in it. Hot coffee would just make us even hotter!

How I make my morning coffee: I first put a blob of honey in the bottom of my cup (because I'm mildly obsessed with the stuff). Then I pour about two inches of hot coffee into the cup. I stir and stir and stir until the honey is all dissolved. Then I fill up the rest of my cup with ice and pour coffee in until it's about 2 inches from the top. Pour in about an inch worth of our local farmers milk and WHAM.

The perfect iced coffee delight!
You're welcome for my secret to success lol.

Our lunch specials......

Wow. I'm really proud of my pictures!
They're even making me hungry lol.
You're not alone guys.
I get hungry too.....

Blackened shrimp and scallops over cheesy grits!

Pulled chicken salad topped with honey glazed walnuts, feta and pancetta. Tossed in a citrus avocado greek yogurt dressing.

Sauteed steak tips with onion, peppers & mushrooms over mashed sweet potatoes. Finished with a feta tomato cream sauce.

Blueberry cantaloupe smoothie

Random photographs from prep time....

I didn't have as much time these past few days to take photographs of the process, but I do have random odds and ends to share.....

Does anyone else see Jack from 'The nightmare before Christmas' in the socca?

Am I the only one? Anyone? Anyone? Lol.
At least once a day LA is bound to hear me say "Ooooooooo! Look! Look! Do you see the face? Do you? Do you see it? I found one!" All the while I'm like super giddy and excited. Finding faces and what not in food is one of my absolute favorite things.

Cue the love of my life......

Daaaawwwwww!! Look at that little face.
I just love her oh so much it's ridiculous.

Who needs kids when you have dogs?
Is that a saying? Well.... it should be lol.
She loves me more than anyone.

I get so jazzed when I wear a new dress for the first time.....

This one makes about 40+ dresses in my closet. Which makes sense because 99.9% of the time I don't wear t-shirts or jeans. Hell -I don't even own jeans anymore. Truth.

I try to buy timeless pieces so I can wear them for years and years without worry that they'll go out of style. I still wear dresses to this day that I purchased in middle school and high school. So I think it's justifiable buying an expensive dress every now and then (the dress pictured isn't expensive, but a few other ones I bought the same day were upwards of $60). I've gotten about 5-8 years out of half of my dresses.

Timeless pieces I tell you!

So glad winter is over so I don't have to wear leggings anymore!!
Or shoes when I'm doing yard work :)

Best two dollar purchase I've ever made.....

If you're smart like me then you'll never spend more than a few dollars on rad glasses. Why? Because sunglasses usually meet their maker one of two ways: 1. They become lost 2. They break. Am I right? Of course I am lol. No one wants to lose or break an expensive pair of sunglasses.

That being said.....

I'd still be really upset if I lost and/or broke these.
I've added sentimental value to these somewhere down the line lol.

Twas chilly the other day, so I decided to wear my favorite yellow coat for most likely the last time this season.....

A picture was definitely in order.
A nostalgic memory already....

Breakfasts x3.......

I typically like to mix my breakfast up, but I haven't been very adventurous this week. This can be contributed to the fact that I haven't woken up early enough to do any better lol. You will see a repeat of eggs, toast, peanut butter, blueberry yogurt, bananas and veggie patties.

If you've never tried toast with peanut butter, honey, and a fried egg on top. Then you're most definitely missing out. Sooooo good!

Who here remembers my fish - Fred?

He's still alive and kicking!
Well....swimming....sort of slow nowadays.
But he's still with us!

Fred is a fish that I bought when I moved to Orlando last spring!
Here's to one more year.

Sweet hangs with friends....

You guys MUST try these products........

These chips.....

HOLY YUM These are so ridiculously good. I was wary and intrigued all at once. But so very very good! What a surprise :)

Baby lips

When I'm not wearing lipstick I am a loyal Blistex gal. That was until my mom bought me baby lips for Christmas. It's like a silk sheet for my lips - they've never been softer!

Dr. Scholl's custom fit orthotic center.....

My puppy chewed up my shoe inserts so I was in dire need of new ones. Seeing as my profession requires that I be on my feet for long periods of time without sitting down - I though it would be best to buy some legit orthopedic care for my feet. Meaning $50 instead of about $3. My body will thank me in the long run....

How exactly does it work?

Well you stand on this machine and (similar to Wii fit) it'll tell you to balance on your right, then your left foot etc. etc. What it's doing is taking your foot measurements to see where exactly you're distributing your weight when you stand.

Then it gives you a custom fit number based on the breakdown of your feet. It gives a bunch of information, and also guarantees your money back if you aren't satisfied.

I myself am a very happy girl. Right when I got home from the store I opened them up and put them into my ugly grandma looking yet quite comfy work shoes (which cost me $140 - but they're an investment in my health) and about died in disbelief.

These fit like a glove! I felt like I was walking on a trampoline cloud! I can't wait to run around the kitchen at work tomorrow wearing them :)

It's the little things in life lol.

My mom and I finally bought seeds for our gardens this year!!

We have 5 or 6 big gardens between my front yard and back yard - and there is A LOT more space where that came from! Our back yard is huge. A couple of the areas are reserved for my dads tomatoes (we grow hundreds and hundreds every year) and peppers.

I'm looking to dig up an area where we had flowers when my sister and I were kids. The area has been grown over for years, but seeing as it's the perfect spot - I'm going to try and dig it all up and make it like new for my little baby seeds!

So there has to be a catch right? It can't just be gardening, sunshine and happiness can it?

Nope. Not this time lol. Marcie is looking to be quite the little digger. And by little digger I mean pain in everyones ass. I'll be damned if she digs up my seeds/plants!! So until I buy fencing and what not I'm going to use this little seed starter kit!

I fully plan on buying one of these pretty pots for indoor flowers :)

My mom and I picked out at least eighteen different seed packets - herbs, fruits, vegetables, flowers. The gangs all here! I'm going to plant them this Sunday so be on the look out for gardening pictures galore!

Well - that's all from me today!

It took me a lot longer to post than I though it would (I presumed as much). So it looks like Jenna is going to have a big bowl of sassy o's for breakfast in the morning (aka be a big ol sassy tired baby) until she gets her milky honey iced coffee delight.

I hope each and every one of you have a wonderful rest of your weekend!
I'll talk to you all on Sunday!

xoxoxo - JB
